My daughter has really gotten into live action “tween” style movies lately. She’s watched the Princess Diaries 1 & 2, The Ice Princess, Freaky Friday, Ella Enchanted, Descendants, Zombies. But I’ve never been into that type of movies. I was too busy watching Star Trek when I was her age. So I had to do some research before allowing them. But I need some more suggestions of movies like those that would be ok for a 10 year old. She’s wanting some new stuff to watch.
I was listening to the Alice in Wonderland episode earlier today and David listed all of the 2010 Disney releases pointing out the ones which were attempts to be boy franchises. The big ones he listed were Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, The Sorcerer’s Apprentice with Cage and Baruchel, and Tron: Legacy. I got to say, as a young boy at the time, I think all three of those totally worked for me. I still legitimately love Tron: Legacy, and PoP and TSA I used to watch all the time on Netflix and have distinct nostalgia for, though I know they are obviously not super good movies. I wanted to know if anybody else had specific Disney for Boys movies they also liked as a kid. I will say not mentioned as they were way earlier were the two National Treasure movies which are great, and I think early Pirates films are all in masterpiece to good territory.
My little brother is 10 years old this year and he’s seen almost zero Disney movies and doesn’t really understand any references to anything Disney. What would be your go to movie to show your kid or younger sibling, he’s seen a few like the incredibles, the little dinosaur and I think thats it. I was debating on Big Hero 6 because he loves super heroes from DC and Marvel or Brother Bear because he’s getting into the spiritual type stuff.
TLDR: Recommend a Disney movie for a first time watcher of the entire universe. Chronological order doesn’t matter.
