No matter how smart, inventive, beautiful, courageous, and/or [insert literally any other adjective here] we are. It’s this endless cycle that goes on and on and on. That’s what disturbed me about this one. ... The descriptions of gore and death in this book just might make you want to hurl yourself down a mining shaft located on the top of an ancient Mayan hill covered in poisonous, sentient, bloodthirsty vines.
