I need to install a backsplash in my kitchen. I saw some articles about "peel and stick" tiles that look like stone but dont require you to rip out old tile/ replace dry wall etc. Does anyone have any experience with these? Do they look cheap? Do they hold up to heat if i install it behind a gas stove?

There are different grades of these things - some are tile with a pre-applied glue and some are basically wallpaper. You get what you pay for, and it is noticeable.

We have them as a “good for now” option. They are vinyl that look like white subway tile with white grout. They don’t look terrible, as long as you don’t look too close! They’ve been there for 8 years as we have been doing other projects that are more priority. No problems with the ones near the stove, and they clean just fine.
