Hi DIY, It's warming up here in California and I would like to build an outdoor [LP] gas fire pit. I am a DIYer, so obviously I want to build it myself. Do you think using an old propane BBQ burner(s) would work? Would it provide enough heat (BTU)? Do you have other suggestions for keeping the cost down, while maintaining safety, ease of use, etc.?
Many thanks!
There's not much to a burner. It kinda just shapes the flame and mixes the air and fuel depending on what type . I'd be tempted to try and build something out of black pipe.
Now that everyone has told you how easy it is, I can't wait till you finish it, post pictures, and see everyone tell you how wrong it is.... Reddit gives me a heart-on...

Need a cheap way to make a grill to go over it but it's so wide that most grills or racks I find would sit part way down which I suppose could work but thought probably should sit on top. I'm in Australia
