I built a floating mid-century modern tv/media console... with sketchup plans and cutlist!

This floating console can be built with one sheet of plywood and a woodshop full of tools. Kind of. A table saw (or circular saw), router, and some clamps will get you 90% of the way there. Okay, yes, technically the video does show using slightly more than one sheet of plywood to build it... but that's because my initial plan wasn't quite right and has some unneeded space. I updated the plan and made it available to download as a SketchUp file! Just completed this project, building a floating entertainment center to pair with our new Samsung Frame TV. All white oak. Started with 6/4 S4S for the frame and 4/4 S4S for the doors. Hung with a French cleat and lag bolts. I definitely need to invest in a jointer, and the bevels were a bit tricky with the boards being too big for my table saw, but it turned out pretty great. It was a fun challenge to try my hand at water-falling the grain for the first time.

Now I have to build a new mantle, as the existing one stands out like a sore thumb now.

It’s cool, but the floating console looks like it’s held up by the sub woofer.

It is really beautiful and you did a great job. But you've gotta move that lower speaker/subwoofer. With the sound bar where you have it I think it takes away from the beauty of your floating design and makes it all look a bit too monolithic. Beautiful timber you've used, mate.
