January 3, 2024 - When building a propane fire pit, start with the base that will house the burner. When building a table cut the posts (A) to length on a miter saw (see Cutting List). Taper the bottom edges about 1/2 in. up with a miter saw. The tapered edges won’t tear out when the table is slid around, and they’ll look better when it’s sitting on uneven ground. Complete DIY projects like a pro!

July 27, 2023 - The legs were installed upside-down, meaning I had the top of the table resting face-down on the workbench. I used Titebond III waterproof glue (since this was an outdoor application) and fasteners to hold the leg pieces in place. With the tops of the legs fastened, I checked to make sure everything was square before I glued and drilled the bottoms into place. The legs had a ¾-inch offset from the ground. Now that the pine frame was assembled, I flipped it back upright and added bottom slats for the propane tank to rest upon.

July 26, 2024 - Whether you decide to style it as a coffee table, accent table or bar table, the main purpose is to house the tank (if using propane); hide the “guts” of the burner (the regulator, gas lines, etc.); and provide support for your tabletop. Building a square or rectangular cabinet base is a fairly straightforward project for anyone with a few construction skills and some basic tools. If this will be your first woodworking project, be prepared to invest in a few power tools such as a drill, table or circular saw and perhaps a nail gun.

September 19, 2025 - Rubber gas hoses typically come with most propane regulators and connection kits. Most DIY burners have 1/2″ NPT fittings, the hoses used for these projects are usually 3/8” with a flared fitting. This is not a problem as a 3/8” hose can deliver more than enough gas to operate your fire feature.
