September 11, 2019 - Using my Shelf pen jig And a scrap piece of wood as a spacer I drilled two sets of equal spaced holes the entire length of the two side pieces of the box. After cutting the 1/4” back panel to size you can assemble the display box. An easier way to do this would be to use painters tape on each of the miters to help hold them in place while you clamped it together. While the case is in the clamps, I cut the rails and styles for the cabinet door to width and length.

r/BeginnerWoodWorking on Reddit: Best wood for small display case?
October 6, 2023 -
I am looking to make a display case that is roughly 20” h x 14” w with 4 shelves. I will include hinges and a locking mechanism. I am looking for the wood to be durable, stainable, and well accepting of hardware.
A harder question (and one for later) would be how to attach the glass to the door.
Thanks all!

For me, the choice of wood would depend on appearance vs cost. w oak, r oak, walnut, pine ... whatever gives the look you're after. Hardwood plywood with hardwood facing like kitchen cabinets is also an option. For the glass, you could do a rabbet like a picture frame. This would allow easy replacement if necessary in the future.

June 26, 2023 - Do it around the straight corner of a piece of wood to ensure the angle is at 90 degrees. Hold the pieces together until they bond firmly then allow to dry. When this is done, repeat with the other side piece and the end piece, once again making sure the pieces are at 90 degrees to each other. Once the pieces are dry, glue them together to make a rectangle, remembering to check the angles once again. Finally, you will need to attach the top of the display case.
