Give the drawers and slides a sanding with 120 to get rid of rough spots, then add wax. Rubbing a regular candle over it will be enough. Don't put wax an surfaces you want to paint later. Answer from SauBaer42 on reddit.com

Wooden drawer slides
With the drawer only filling part of the space underneath the table, the channel just spanned from the front to the back for the drawers to slide in. I also used this approach in a drawer chest, shown at left. The drawers go right to the edge of the cabinet, so it was more expedient and space efficient to just attach pieces of hardwood to the inside sides of the cabinet. I just used pieces of scrap hardwood I had lying around, which is why the pieces of wood have odd shapes to them

Install Drawers Without Metal Slides
February 14, 2025 - Full-extension metal slides allow you to build a drawer the full depth of the cabinet and still access its furthest reaches without removing it from the cabinet. To get that access using wood guides, you'll need to move the back of the drawer forward 2–4". When the back reaches the front of the cabinet it provides a visual cue that you've pulled out as far as you should.

Please ignore my horrible paint job!!
I got this dresser for free and I have been renovating it. Even before painting, the drawers were very hard to pull out. Is there a way that I could add a track? Or something else to help them slide?

Wood on wood "drawer slides" question | Woodworking Talk
The simplest was just extending the drawer bottom beyond the sides of the drawer, and them placing blocks along the sides to create grooves for the drawers to slide in. Everything can be done with a table saw, maybe even a circ saw.

We have a neat cabinet made of wood, but it has a drawback: its drawers (the rails? the tracks?) have somewhat warped over time and now won't slide easily anymore. Are there any DIY solutions how I could improve them?

Rub candle wax or soap on the slide.

Spit on it. Just kidding, wax like everyone else is saying. IF they are worn enough and causing the drawer box to rub on the face frame, it looks like there is enough room to shim the top of the rail -- solving both problems. I'd permanently attach a piece of thin plastic to the top part of the rail. If you really want it slippery add a thin plastic to the box rail as well. A plastic-on-plastic surface would glide.
