Implementation of Dlib Deep Learning Face Recognition Technology | IEEE Conference Publication | IEEE Xplore
In order to overcome the problems of OpenCV in face detection, such as missing detection, false detection and poor recognition effect, a new method of Dlib face recognition based on ERT algorithm is proposed. This method can realize face recognition and feature calibration by Python, which calls a large number of trained face model interfaces, and it has good robustness for occlusion.

/* This is an example illustrating the use of the deep learning tools from the dlib C++ Library. In it, we will show how to do face recognition. This example uses the pretrained dlib_face_recognition_resnet_model_v1 model which is freely available from the dlib web site.

October 2, 2023 - To demonstrate face detection, we need an image. You can either upload an image to your Colab workspace or use an image from the internet. For this tutorial, we’ll assume you’ve uploaded an image named “sample.jpg.” ... # Load the image image_path = 'sample.jpg' image = cv2.imread(image_path) # Convert the image to grayscale (Dlib works with grayscale images) gray = cv2.cvtColor(image, cv2.COLOR_BGR2GRAY)

March 5, 2026 - I would consider using Dlib when minimizing the number of false positives is a primary concern. But otherwise, Dlib doesn’t offer a large enough increase in accuracy over YuNet to justify the much higher processing times; at least for my purposes. The primary draw of OpenCV’s face detection model is its speed.

dlib C++ Library: High Quality Face Recognition with Deep Metric Learning
Since the last dlib release, I've been working on adding easy to use deep metric learning tooling to dlib. Deep metric learning is useful for a lot of things, but the most popular application is face recognition. So obviously I had to add a face recognition example program to dlib.

April 22, 2022 - We have by far understood what is HOG face detector but to use it we have to first load the face detector i.e. dlib.get_frontal_face_detector() function which is a pre-trained method and this function has the dlib library beforehand so we don’t even need to include the main model file.
