Yes, Azgaar's map generator is a great tool. The only thing I kinda miss with it is the ability to make routes over the antimeridian, which doesn't work. Other features are really great. You can make a culture tree, which allows cultures to descend from other cultures and a load of other things. More on reddit.com

I used to use in karate, made some maps in proud of, but switched over to dungeondraft/wonderdraft and haven’t looked back, they’re so damn nice and they allow you to import custom assets, something I marinate was definitely missing for me. More on reddit.com

It's not free, but it was worth every penny to me, Wonderdraft is a really easy to use map making software, and if you want battlemaps instead of world maps, their other product DungeonDraft is great too.

I'm a pencil and paper kind of person. Get out some paper and start drawing, it doesn't need to be perfect, any discrepancies can be chalked up to the NPC map maker not knowing the terrain.
