They kissed in the books. Maguire confirmed there is supposed to be lesbian subtext, without explicitly stating it. Kristin also said she portrayed Galinda with the idea that there was a bit of gayness to it. In the musical I personally never bought that Galinda actually loved Fiyero. I felt it was kin to a head cheerleader dating the quarterback because they are socially expected to be a power couple. I always felt she was lesbian while Elphie is bi… but that is my head-cannon.
