Apply and never bring up your age in person, the application will have a question "are you under 18" that's the only time you need to mention it. It's actually against policy to ask a persons age. Show up professional and adult, you dont have work history yet so talk about your clubs and tutoring skills and anything that shows your responsibility. Even after all that the store may not want to work around your schedule or have the capacity to. Don't be too discouraged, just keep applying at different places.

Before everyone shares only their bad experiences… I (23 M) started at Best Buy as a seasonal employee when I was 16. It was cool, but challenging. Helped me learn how to talk to strangers and be confident talking to adults. Didn’t think too much of it (I had money for gas and fast food after school) but it was fun. I’m still there and building a career out of it. It Probably depends where but I think all stores start at $15/hr so not bad for a 16yr old! TL;DR: Good job for young people just don’t get stressed about it. Decent pay and you’ll learn a lot. No real benefits as part time but they’re usually flexible with minors/scheduling.

Yes. I’d say do it for 2-3 years while in college/HS. Never lose sight of your bigger goal. Best Buy is just a stepping stone. Try to save half of your paychecks. Future you will thank 16 year old you. 🙏🏾💙

I've been trying to get into Best Buy since March. I submitted an application for Retail Sales at my local store on March 24th and a week later I was called for an interview. The interview went really well but then the hiring manager emailed me a week later saying BBY had ordered them to freeze hiring. So my application has been stuck in the "Under Review" status to this day.
I've followed up with the hiring manager at least 3-4 times between April and June. The store has been going through some changes. They got a new general manager, etc.
I've noticed that the Retail Sales position opened up again two days ago (it also opened last month for a brief period), so I submitted another application that is currently "Under Review" as well. So I have two applications for the same role at the same store.
I'm currently 17 but I will be 18 in a few months, it's coming up. I have good availability and I plan to keep the job for a good time if hired.

Pretty difficult, I know since I got hired when I was 17 myself. A big part of the reason I was still hired was because my birthday was less than a month away. While working as a 17 year old, they were only able to give me 4 hour shifts which I'm sure they weren't pleased with which is why I say its difficult. Other than that, I've been 18 for over 10 months now and working for GeekSquad has been a great experience for me.

Define minor, 16 or 17 years of age? Or even younger??? I'll assume 16. It would then depend on what position you are applying for, as some positions you have to be 18 for. And even then, some best buy's simply don't hire those that aren't 18.

Chances are the store you're applying to doesn't hire minors because of needing to have limited availability for them. I suggest looking elsewhere for a job.
