8 hours ago - They were protected under the Wildlife Act 1953 and the population was managed by Fish and Game New Zealand, which culled excessive bird numbers. In 2011, the government removed the protection status, allowing anyone to kill the birds. Like most geese, the Canada goose is naturally migratory with the wintering range being most of the United States.

r/TrueUnpopularOpinion on Reddit: Canada Goose Should Go Back to Killing Geese
March 19, 2024 -

The company Canada Goose, which makes expensive winter apparel, once used real geese to make it's jackets. Some jackets even required a dozen geese to be manufactured. However, the company eventually bowed to pressure from PETA and other animal rights activists, and in 2021 they began to abide by something called the Real Down Standard, which requires that they only use feathers from poultry byproducts.

This is a huge mistake. Canadian geese are the absolute worst. They suck so bad. There's too many of them, they attack dogs and small children, they shit everywhere, they take over the park, and they make thar annoying hissing noise. They're arrogant, nasty, and rude; they deserve to be turned into coats. They're like a squatter who moves into your house and complains about everything. Their feces is so voluminous in some of the places they invade it damages local ecosystems and water supplies for native species. There's too many of them. This company needs to apologize, start killing the geese again, and turn at least half of them into coats because the geese are total assholes.

r/vegan on Reddit: People wearing Canada Goose makes my blood boil and I can't take anyone who wears this disgusting clothing seriously.
September 19, 2021 -

I literally cannot fathom why anyone would buy anything from this terrible company. I get that not everyone is fully aware, but it has a literal entire animal on its hood for the sake of aesthetics. How does any rational person think it's okay to wear an entire animal around their face just for the hell of it? There are also so many down alternatives to this at this point, there are no excuses. Killing animals for flexing your money and status is not cute.

Anyways, that is all. Thank you for coming to my ted talk.
