January 29, 2022 - FiiO has been doing great recently to release really attractive and mature devices. The M3 Pro has a fantastic form factor and a stylish design with a practical UI that allows entry-level users or seasoned audiophiles to enjoy their music collection. I wish there could be Bluetooth or balanced output support, but it is a bit too much to ask for at such an asking price.

It’s a real shame since the inclusion of Bluetooth could have easily made the M3 Pro one of the very best value-packed devices out there, but I suppose FiiO did have to sacrifice some feature along the fay in order to keep the M3 Pro at a certain price-point. It’s also very true that many people simply don’t have a need for a Bluetooth-enabled music player, and so it would make no sense for them to have to pay for a feature which they’ll never or seldom use. Another thing to mention is that the USB-C connection does support USB audio output, which immediately makes the M3 Pro a fantastic little source device to feed an audio stream to an external DAC device such as the Chord Mojo, iFi’s new Hip DAC, or the incredible little E1DA 9038S G3.

October 29, 2020 - For me, there are three big reasons to advise someone to purchase the FiiO M3 Pro: the design/build quality, the excellent sound for the price, as well as the USB DAC capabilities. A final white ball goes to the excellent firmware support the M3 Pro gets from its manufacturer. Some say that Bluetooth support would have been a good feature to have in the M3 Pro, but I'd rather get a protective case and some earbuds with it — nothing expensive, just enough to get a DAP newbie started.

The lack of Bluetooth support may also be a negative, since if you're like me you find interacting with a tiny Bluetooth module like the BTR3K more appealing. Still, despite these areas of improvement the M3 Pro remains a great device and a joy to carry around on the regular.
