May 25, 2019What are your thoughts on wireless charging?
I’m on board with the idea of it, there are some stumbling blocks that, when fixed, will make us laugh at the first few generations of the tech.
Soon we are going to have phones with no ports or any way to charge the devices, which will in turn make them more resilient especially in water.
The issue I have is with the limitations in the system itself. Case to thick? Too bad. Popsocket or meta style ring? Nope.
But the thought of not being tethered to a cable is really appealing. Being able to grab my phone off the charger and do a few things, then pop it back down to charge not having to be stuck on whatever the cable length is, or not having to plug the cable back in, is really great.
What I expect in the next 10-15 years is a radiant charge like is being worked on now, just charging through the air is where it’s at, but to get there we have to deal with these limitations.
Baby steps. Also, I want to make sure I don’t get dick cancer before they fully implement radiant charging. So if clunky qi wireless charging is where we have to sit for a bit to boost the tech, so be it.

So I recently got a wireless charging pad. I also bought that wireless receiving charger. So I attach the receiver to my charging port and hide it behind my apple silicone case and put the phone on the pad. It was charging. But I came back after a while and the phone was super hot. What caused that and is it safe?

The iPhone 8, 8 Plus and X are the only iPhones that support wireless charging. I see what you mean though, that’s a bit of a concern with the card that’s behind the case. What are the supported amperage on the devices? Might want to be careful that it’s not over what the iPhone 7 can support.

if I'm right, there is typically a lot of heat lost thru induction charging so I guess it's normal? but I would imagine high heat doesn't do e battery much good...

Ther is a way to add wireless charging to an iPhone 7 but switching all the internals into one of the cases on dhgate.com. If you search for wireless charging housing iPhone 7 you will find them. A YouTube did a video about them recently on the iPhone 6s. Strange parts also sells their own housing but it does not have the apple logo on the back.

This wireless charging pad on top will NOT work with iPhone 7. iPhone 7 is not capable of wireless charging on its own and we do not recommend using a wireless charging adapter with our wireless charging pads. However, as someone else mentioned, there are USB ports that can be used with a cable to charge iPhone 7. Hope this helps!
