How do Iranians actually feel about the Israel and Palestine conflict
(My view) I don't know if my position is exactly unique in the community but here it goes: I tend to be on the right side of politics in this day and age. For instance, I would likely be considered a monarchist by many, although I believe more in a constitutionalist system. I digress. Usually the right wing tends to have more pro-Israel sentiment. This sub for instance in a western lens would be considered more on the right side of the spectrum than on the left (which confuses people in the west and reddit in general for various reasons). This sub has a lot of Israelis that have sort of co-opted the forum. Many people here tend to vocally agree with them. My theory is because the IR has instilled such a vitriol against Israel that many Iranians tend to express contrary views to spite IR. I get it, but sometimes it is irrational. Additionally, there tends to be a general anti-arab sentiment with Iranians that has existed prominently especially in the past 120 years. These two factors have created this image of Iranians as generally vehement Zionists. The way I see it is that Israel has since its inception, been in conflict with Arabs. Some times the Arabs have been the aggressors and the aggrieved, and other times its has been the Israelis. However, as time as progressed, and especially from the end of the yom kippur war, Israel has become so strongly supported from the west, that it has become essentially an untouchable nation. This is manifested by both its funding, which has resulted in a strong military industrial complex; and its protection by America and Western European nations militarily, which means that any serious action by a foreign and sovereign state (i.e., Iran) will be met by Western intervention, which has created a great deterrence force for Israel. "With great power comes great responsibility." Voltaire. Israel has been irresponsible with the power they have both inherited and created. Because of the circumstances of Israel and the relationship it has had with Arabs, there is a general disdain for Arabs in Israel, and vice versa of course. However, because Israel has such disproportionate power over the Arabs, due in major part to the reasons I have mentioned above, the Israeli society in general has treated the Arabs with a level of disrespect and vitriol that is actually quite despicable and surely not reflective of a free and fair society which is often purported to be the case by many pro-Israelis. Arabs are basically disenfranchised, and the exceptions that are exemplified by Israelis is the result of a well-oiled propaganda machine. Long story short, Israel is the dominant force that bullies Palestinians. The Palestinians react in a manner that is the direct result of the bullying they face. It is as we say in law, the proximate cause of the current issue at hand. Contemporary Palestinian resistance is a foreseeable result of Israeli society's treatment of Palestinians. Additionally, I do not see any beneficial solution for the Palestinians, nor do I see a beneficial solution for the Israelis. I think, Israel will have to solve "the palestinian issue" and I suspect they will take over Gaza, after they burn it to the ground. However, with that, Israel risks its integrity. That said, I don't think the State cares too much about that because most nations in the world despise them already. Lose-lose really. More on reddit.com

Does Iran really 'care' about Palestine? - by Matthew Petti
December 16, 2024 - A state-sponsored rally for Palestine in Iran, 8 October 2023. Wikimedia/Fars News Agency/Ahamadreza Madah. Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International license. The apparent battlefield defeat of the Axis of Resistance, the array of Iranian allies in the Arab world, is an event that requires explanation. One explanation gaining currency is that Iran was never really serious about fighting Israel or standing up for Palestine, and that its commitments to the struggle were always paper-thin.

Why are So Many Iranians Seemingly Indifferent to the War in Gaza? • Stimson Center
May 13, 2024 - This shift should be understood as a reaction to the official position of the state, which the Iranian middle class, in particular, perceives as ignoring the public’s demand for the pursuit of national interest rather than adhering to ideological foreign policies and expansionism through supporting Hamas and other members of the so-called “Axis of Resistance.” · The public response to government media’s portrayal of pro-Palestine protests on U.S. campuses highlights this point. Following the onset of the encampment and subsequent police intervention at Columbia University, as well as other universities across the United States, Iranian officials and state media seized upon the news to advance their own anti-Israel propaganda.

Twenty questions (and expert answers) on the Israel-Iran war - Atlantic Council
June 16, 2025 - Though it may have limited tactical impact in the near term, the weakening or possible collapse of the Iranian regime will be a positive development for the prospects of Gaza’s rejuvenation and regeneration after the war, as well as peace between Palestinians and Israelis. —Ahmed Fouad Alkhatib leads Realign For Palestine, an Atlantic Council project that challenges entrenched narratives in the Israel and Palestine discourse. Russia could potentially benefit from the Israel-Iran conflict, by US attention and support being redirected from Ukraine to Israel, and by the rise in oil prices which provide Moscow with greater resources to fund its war against Ukraine.
