Just realised today that PayPal was able to update my new Debit Card information without any authorisation from me.
I'm not annoyed that it's happened, not for PayPal, at least. But how many companies can achieve this?
Part of the charm of getting a new card is protection from more obscure shopping sites getting hacked.
Oh, Delta Airlines has a breach, no problem, I paid for the flight 8 years ago, and that card is long gone.
I feel a bit vulnerable now...
The prospect of all the random stores I shop at getting a memo from Visa with all my information is a little disturbing.

TLDR: when a new card is issued, Visa / Mastercard sends the updated info to Paypal - even if the credit card number has changed.

I have never used paypal, never bought anything or sent money or anything. I completely forgot I even set up an account. Apparently my card has been on there for years. I just received an email saying “We’ve updated your card’s expiration date.” I never gave them any updated information, my card’s expiration date did just change. How the hell do they get this information?
I somehow remembered my password and was able to remove the card. I want to delete the whole account though. This makes me nervous. Has anyone else gotten that email and had their information updated by PayPal?
