1987 film by Stuart Gordon

Always liked this film very much and it's held up remarkably well over the years. While it's relatively well-received, it still has a tendency to get overshadowed by some of Stuart Gordon's other works like Re-Animator and From Beyond, when it deserves to be recognized as much. It's a great blending of Horror and Fantasy, and feels like something of a "stepping stone" Horror film for kids when they're ready to graduate to R-rated fare. It very much has the feeling of being an R-rated children's film much of the time. The puppet and stop-motion effects for the titular dolls are still amazing decades later and put to shame a lot of CGI you see these days. There's such a simplistic charm this film has to it. I'm not sure why I don't watch it more often as it's very rewatchable and it's also an easy watch with it's short length and is always a good film to kick back to and immerse yourself in it's fantasy world.
