What is interval notation?
Interval notation is a way to represent a set of real numbers on the number line. It consists of two numbers separated by a comma, and the numbers are enclosed in either parentheses or square brackets.

How do you find interval notation?
To find interval notation for a set of numbers, identify the minimum and maximum values of the set, and then use the appropriate symbols to represent the set. To express a set of numbers that includes both the minimum and maximum values, use square brackets [ ] for the endpoints of the set. To express a set of numbers that does not include the minimum or maximum values, use parentheses ( ) for the endpoints of the set.

December 8, 2023 - Click on the “SUBMIT” button to get the interval notation and also the whole step-by-step solution for the Parametric to Cartesian Equation will be displayed. Finally, in the new window, the number line for the specified period will be displayed. The Interval Notation Calculator works by expressing the subset of real numbers using interval notation by the integers that bound them.

Domain and Range Calculator: Step-by-Step Function Analysis
Avoid confusion about open and closed intervals when finding the domain and range of a function. If the endpoint is not included (e.g., division by zero), then use the parentheses ( ) If the endpoint is included (e.g., square root boundary), then use the brackets [ ] Example: [5, ∞) means x = 5 is included, while (5, ∞) means it is not included. The values taken by the function are collectively referred to as the range. For example, the function Start Power, Start base, x , base End,Start exponent, 2 , exponent End , Power Endx2 takes the reals (domain) to the non-negative reals (range). The sine function takes the reals (domain) to the closed interval [-1, 1]-1, 1 (range).

October 6, 2021 - The answers are all real numbers where \(x<2\) or \(x>2\). We can use a symbol known as the union, \(\cup\),to combine the two sets. In interval notation, we write the solution:\((−\infty,2)∪(2,\infty)\). In interval form, the domain of f is \((−\infty,2)\cup(2,\infty)\). ... How To: Given a function written in equation form including an even root, find the domain.

January 24, 2019 -
Easy enough, I need to find the domain for the function f(x)=(-4/3)x+(2/3). It should be (-infinity, infinity) because there are no restrictions on x, but for some reason my online homework (web assign) won't take the answer. I've double checked on a number of online calculators and such and they all confirm my answer. Is there something I'm missing or am I just screwed out of that homework point?
Edit: Link to a SS of the question with what I think is the right answer filled in. https://imgur.com/a/dqIyXCu

In the above example, the lowest y coordinate is y=0 achieved when x=3 is plugged in. The larger the x value plugged in the larger the y coordinate we obtain. Thus, the Range is \( y>=0 \) or \( [0,\infty ) \) in Interval Notation. What's another way to think of Domain and Range?
