I read this article from Wired today about this app called DoNotPay (https://www.wired.com/story/free-trial-card/). To me it sounds amazing, and almost a little too good to be true. Offering all kinds of services such as getting refunds on bank account fees, signing up for free trials without providing your credit card info, and getting refunds on flight tickets if the price lowers after your purchase. Immediately upon signing up it requests to connect to your financial account in order to receive any savings. I've also heard some users saying it asks for their Gmail credentials.
Is this app legitimate and safe to use? Has anyone used this app that could share their success / fail experiences using it?

More power to them, but, uh: Well, for one, the people running the bank network don’t know their service is being used to generate virtual credit cards for the Free Trial Cards service. “Our agreement is to act as an agent for consumers on various payments. And so they do not know specifically about the free trial,” says Browder. If I were running a bank, I'd be scrambling to figure out if there's an account somewhere generating thousands of virtual credit cards. Subscription services are undoubtedly pissed off and the bank's not making any money processing $0 transactions and bouncing the rest. Seems like a no-brainer to terminate these guys. I don't know why investors are dumping money into them considering I'm not seeing a clear revenue model here. Pay these guys $5/mo regularly so you don't accidentally forget to cancel your payment of $10/mo? I wouldn't rely on the service existing for very long. Virtual credit cards already exist. As for their other services, they're neat and all, but no lawyer is worried about an app that generates basic paperwork. Traffic ticket appeals aren't exactly rocket science, and LegalZoom already demonstrated that DIY lawyering can turn into a disaster real quick.
