I only just noticed that some of my non grocery merchandise is being delivered by Door Dash. I'm unsure how long this has been happening.

I never know when I place my order who is delivering my stuff. It usually comes by FedX, Purlator etc.

Are Dashers paid appropriately for delivering for Walmart? Cause there's no way for the customer like myself to tip. I don't keep cash on me.

I haven’t had any pick ups for Wal Mart so I can’t necessarily answer your question. I didn’t even realize DD did Walmart deliveries. Wonder if maybe it has to do with the strike? And all the other companies getting busier because of it 🤷🏼‍♀️

Yeah, no. Walmarts are the worst Ive declined like 5000 in a row and actually offered a cash payout to their employees to block me on their end. This merchant is one primary reasons I don't do as well as I should on the Door Dash platform. Wish we didn't see these offers at all

I ordered from Walmart online like I have been since March.

I did absolutely nothing different with my order. It's just your usual Walmart website order and I chose 2 day delivery, like always.

For some reason, the next day, I got a text saying my doordash delivery was here. Needless to say, I was confused, I don't use doordash and didn't order anything. I ignored it. A few hours later I looked out the window and saw some random walmart bags- part of my order. It was just a few of the items, like a couple bags of chips.

Later that day I got a phone call, saying my doordash delviery from Walmart was here and can he leave it on the front porch. I said sure.

That 2nd batch? It was literally 1 paper plate package. I ordered maybe $100 worth of stuff, and this was $3 of that order.

First off- when did WM start using Doordash? I never selected Doordash as my delivery option.

Second, how the heck is WM paying people to send like literally $3 worth of goods at a time? It used to come as 1 big package in the mail, now it's bits and pieces?

And what about tips? There's not even an option as far as I can tell. Are these drivers just getting completely hosed?

Is anyone familiar with how this whole thing works? Any way to opt out of it? I feel bad having random doordashers running 1 bag from WM at a time to my house.

Walmart isn't paying the DoorDash driver to make the deliveries. When I first started Dashing the orders to go to Walmart would come through just as any other order for Cheesecake Factory would. DoorDash pays us $3 per order and $2 for any stacked order that comes through. Any additional pay is purely from whatever amount you've decided to add as a tip on your order. The reason so many of us Dashers hate Walmart orders is because the order acceptance screen tells us that you the customer has up to 15 days to add any additional tip, mostly no customer does it. We also don't like to take Walmart orders because the payouts tend to be well...crap customers might tip us $5 on top of the $3 base pay...then DoorDash will add a second Walmart order for a different customer. So now we have a backseat and a trunk full of stuff and have to make multiple trips from your door to our car and or up flights of stairs. Thats why we just hate Walmart orders in general. As a customer who’s now done DoorDash I can confidently say that I will NEVER be ordering stuff from stores like Walmart. Plus it's just better to do the shopping yourself!

Walmart does use Doordash to do deliveries. That said, most of my deliveries are just one item, usually something a bit larger than normal. My guess is Door Dash is generally used to replace items that couldn't be delivered due to insufficient stock at the time, or items that were deemed fragile or to cumbersome for their normal delivery drivers. Base pay for a walmart is 4 bucks, meaning walmart pays a dasher a grand total a buck, ontop of the 3 dollar dasher delivery. They also tend to bundle orders together in 'relatively' the same area (3-5 miles). As for tips, don;t use the order app, but I do know most people ignore Walmart orders specifically because people rarely tip, plus you might have to wait 30+ minutes for walmart employees to get their crap together. TL/DR: It's a big fricken mess. I assume there is an option to tip, but I don't know how it is. And walmart needs to inform their customers if it's a Walmart employee or a dasher doing the deliveries
