Ok. So the issue here is this: A lot of (American) hotels have "single kings" and "double queens" or "kings" and "doubles" for short. When you talk about a bed size that is a "double" and you are not indicating the quantity of beds then try using "full size" or "full" instead. More on reddit.com

Hi everyone, our master bedroom is a bit small cause our house is small. Bedroom is 93”x 160” that’s why we won’t have lots of room from sides. The mattress we are looking at for double 59” and queen is 65”. Should we go with queen or double? If it’s double we would have more on sides. Maybe we can put some narrow nightstands? Please give me some ideas since for few years we won’t be able to afford a bigger place since I bought the house 2 years ago. Is double two small for us? She is 5’4 and I’m 6’0.

Queen for sure. You spend 8 hours lying there and way less than that walking around your bedroom. Narrow side tables and under the bed storage is the way to go. Ikea has beds with drawers, but the MALM, their most popular has a very thick frame, would not recommend for a small bedroom

Has anyone ever bought a “Double” sized Bed with 4 storage boxes from Ikea.
While we were in the store a few days ago, I believe Ikea calls them “Double” size, but I am seeing these on the website labelled as “Full” size (https://www.ikea.com/ca/en/p/malm-high-bed-frame-4-storage-boxes-black-brown-luroey-s09069783/). Are they the same?
Secondly, if your floor is carpeted, did you find trouble with having to open the storage drawers?
Did you find considerable difference between “Double/Full” sized bed and “Queen” bed ?
Do you find issues in finding bedding and mattress for a “Double” sized bed?
This “Double” sized bed, is this a special Ikea size or a general sizing for beds in the market. If I go with this, will I have trouble in finding mattress for this.

A double bed is the same size as a full. It's a few inches shorter and narrower than a queen. If you have two people sleeping in the bed (or anyone over say, 5'6"), you will probably prefer a queen size bed. I have a full bed. I'm 5'5" and it's just me + the cats, so it's fine. If a full/double works for you, you will easily find linens/bedding. And, they're usually a little bit less expensive than queen. I had a storage bed from Ikea forever ago. I don't recall any issues with using the drawers on carpet. However, I do remember that they got a lot of dust and cat hair inside the drawers. I ended up not using them for clothing.
