Just out of curiosity, what was the brand? Most down comforters are supposed to keep the down fill in the boxes for a lot longer than just 2 years. It would be good info so people can avoid that brand in the future, honestly. On down you'll more than likely get a lot of recommendations from users on here (from Costco to St Geneve), but if you want ultimate fluffiness and warmth in winter usually the best thing to do is get a duvet cover and pack in two oversized down comforters that are either summer weight or all-season weight. You'll have such a fluffy bed you won't know what to do with yourself, lol ;) Personally I'd just get two summer weights or a summer weight + an all-season weight for much colder temps. More than that and you might overheat if your temps aren't below 50F in your room. If you're looking for cheap deals, I think you'll find a lot of them on ebay in terms of down, but a decent brand that's got some cheap prices on ebay is DaniaDown. There is a seller that sells a few of the down comforters from them at a pretty decent price for what you get that might interest you; most Canadian down brands are pretty decent quality, I've found, but if you'd rather stick with the more highly-regarded brands like St Geneve or Scandia Home, that's fine too! Polish down is usually considered the best down in the world after Eiderdown, but when you get into expensive down you start getting prices that are crazy-high. I have an alpaca wool insert. I also love big fluffy blankets, but was struggling with temperature regulation and couldn't get down because of allergies. I spent a LOT of time searching on here. I was originally resistant to the alternatives to down/down alternative (silk, wool), but i freaking LOVE the alpaca wool insert. It is SO breathable. I didn't realize what I was missing. I couldn't go back to synthetic fibers because they just trap heat like crazy. It is definitely not as fluffy as down, but it is much fluffier than silk, it has nice weight, and i have layered it with nice cotton blankets. Someone else mentioned linen covers - I also have this on the insert, and think it helps quite a bit with breathability also. More on reddit.com

If recommend looking at wool blankets. Many are BIFL.They’re both hypo allergenic and anti fungal if you have mold issues.

It’s not a comforter though. I’m interested on other responses as a guy who lives in Renton. From my experience washing comforters destroys them over time. Good luck.

Do your homework. Nearly all the retail sellers are trying to get you to buy lower quality at higher prices. If they aren’t giving full specs (fill power, amount, grade, place of origin, percentage of down vs feather) then assume the worst. And then the ones that do (US and Canada) are probably way overpriced. Check out: Supreme Quilts . Read the page on the various levels of downs. The US sized comforters are probably the best value, bar none. They offer different amounts of fill depending on desired warmth. Full transparency, top quality, low prices. I have bought from them.
