I was originally resistant to the alternatives to down/down alternative (silk, wool), but i freaking LOVE the alpaca wool insert. It is SO breathable. I didn't realize what I was missing. I couldn't go back to synthetic fibers because they just trap heat like crazy. It is definitely not as fluffy as down, but it is much fluffier than silk, it has nice weight, and i have layered it with nice cotton blankets. September 19, 2024Does it exist: down alternative comforter/duvet insert with filling that won't clump, lump, bunch up, and migrate into patches within two years?
Haven't had it more than a few months, but we bought a lightweight one from https://www.thewoolroom.com/ and it's been really good so far. It doesn't "drape" over you quite like a good down duvet, but it does seem to be more breathable and better for temperature regulation. More on reddit.com

I have a down alternative comforter. It's OK. Nothing I'd recommend. I know it's not the question. Have you considered a heated mattress pad? I was hesitant, thought I'd roast, maybe feel wires. I think it's great. It has left and right sides... and foot, torso, and head zones, so very customizable. 1-10 heat. I keep feet at 2 or 3, torso at 1, head at 0. It's the nicest, most gentle heat . Yet my head remains cool. Sorry for veering away from the ask... but it might be worth consideration. More on reddit.com

If recommend looking at wool blankets. Many are BIFL.They’re both hypo allergenic and anti fungal if you have mold issues.
It’s not a comforter though. I’m interested on other responses as a guy who lives in Renton. From my experience washing comforters destroys them over time. Good luck.

My title probably covered it all. No matter how low I turn my AC, I wake up sweating. My current comforter and duvet aren't great and I think both have polyester.
I'm an animal lover and can't support down or feather but I really miss the super plush company store down comforters my best friend had when we were kids. Basically I'd like it as plush as possible but not hot.
Does anyone have something like this that they can recommend?

I have one called downcool off of Amazon it's really lightweight. If I put a duvet cover on it, it's too warm and have to sleep with a/c at 68. I gave up and just use it without a duvet cover and can sleep comfortably at 70-71. Edit: Soo why are people downvoting for me for sharing what bedding I use 😑
