The new version of Outlook is such garbage and I can’t seem to get the old version. Does anybody have a way for me to get it? I can’t believe how much functionality has been removed and how terrible the “new” product is. I’m so sick of every company’s “improvements” being a stripped away piece of trash. WTF are the morons at Microsoft smoking???

Dear GeoffBeck,
Thanks for reaching out to us here in Microsoft Community.
I understand you prefer Classic Outlook, but it is not included in the latest Office install package and also New Outlook seems to be not catering to your needs.
New Outlook is a free email software for unsubscribed Microsoft 365 users. The features and interface are similar to the Outlook web version. But there is still a big gap between it and Outlook Classic in terms of functionality. And the developers are constantly improving and enriching its content. So if you still have Outlook Classic, you can continue to use Outlook Classic to get more rich features.
This is a policy by Microsoft that Classic Outlook is not included in the install package. If you prefer to use Classic Outlook, a standalone version of classic Outlook for Windows is available for you to install.
You can download it from Microsoft store: Can't open Classic Outlook on a new Windows PC - Microsoft Support
Sign in with your work, school, or personal Microsoft account to get started. A Microsoft 365 Personal or Family subscription is required to use this app with personal accounts.
Yes, because classic Outlook is a completely different desktop application, and the data are all cached on your hard drive, so you need to re-set up your mailbox, contacts and calendar.
I hope my suggestion was helpful to you.
If you have any questions, please let me know and I will work with you until your doubts are resolved.
Best wishes

This instruction reinstalls the complete 365 suite INCLUDING NEW outlook. It does NOT install classic outlook. MICROSOFT! NOBODY LIKES THE NEW OUTLOOK.

Some of the New devices have New Outlook already installed on them. To get the Classic Outlook visit the Microsoft Store, Download Classic Outlook and install it. Once you have it installed, Uninstall the new Outlook. This will ensure that you are not redirected back to New Outlook when you try to open Classic outlook.

Is Outlook installed? Outlook.exe is here - you can use Windows key + R to open the Run command and paste the path, including the parenthesis in the run box then press Enter.
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\root\Office16\OUTLOOK.EXE"
if you use 32-bit Office, it is here -
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\root\Office16\OUTLOOK.EXE"
If Outlook is installed and new Outlook opens when you click the link, see Use Classic Outlook, not New Outlook (slipstick.com)
If it is not installed, you can download Outlook here: https://support.microsoft.com/office/you-can-t-open-classic-outlook-on-a-new-windows-pc-5c94902b-31a5-4274-abb0-b07f4661edf5

hi Ralph
i have just purchased a new laptop. i was not given the opportunity to select the version of outlook i prefer. the new version is ****!. so i have uninstalled the new version and currently have downloaded the classic version as a stand alone. seriously who had the brain fart and decided to screw with something that was not broken?
just installed the classic version and all is now as it should be.
please don't screw with a product that was good in the first instance.
"New Outlook" is optional, until eoy
Currently in MS Outlook, desktop, there is a Btn on the Ribbon to select 'new outlook'
I recently reinstalled windows onto my pc and when I tried to use outlook it forced me to use the new one. I looked everywhere for a solution and they all said to click the "try new outlook" off but when I do I get an CMD error telling me that it cant find outlook. so I think my problems will be fixed if I can just download an older version.
