Hello, I have a HP Prodesk 400 G6 with Factory Default Win10 and Inplace Update Win11 22h2.
How to install 24h2?
It is not offered in under Settings/Windows Update.
Thx!
Where everyone is waiting for 25H2, my system is still running on 23H2. I didn't stop any updates or even pause them. Never play with update settings also.
I've recently got some updates named with Update Preview. Except that, I only get security update for Windows Security.
To solve this issue, I've recently downloaded Windows 11 again, but the problem is still not solved.
What can I do to solve this issue and get regular updates after that?
OS build number: 22631.4830

Got this notification today:
So I go to check System Updates and it says this:
But when I click "Check for updates" nothing happens. I have automatic updates turned on and update history says the last one was 10/11/2024. I just bought this PC in May 2023, it's running Windows 11 Home version 21H2 and my processor is Intel Core i5-11400F.
I'm not super knowledgeable on computers besides basic specs - just looking for the best way to maintain my PC health the easiest way possible and hopefully without losing any settings or files. :) TIA!
Just wanted to ask.
Has anyone received 24H2 over Windows Update?
Currently running 23H2 22635.4805.
CPU is a 13700K with 64GB DDR5 and a 1TB Samsung 990 Pro boot drive.
Welp...
It seems I'm just getting it now.
Just did an update check after posting this, for a lark.
26120.3073 is downloading now.
Update 02.02.2025 System updated successfully to 26120.3073, but the process took almost half an hour, even on my PC.
Seems to be running smoothly, but I have not have sufficient time or reason to stress the install or investigate new features.
I have Windows 11 on unsupported hardware - only the CPU not supported as it is a 7th gen. When I upgraded from Windows 10 to 11, I did not need to do anything special, just booted to standard Windows 11 USB and fresh install - no rufus etc.
I have not been promoted yet to install 24H2 update, do I have to keep waiting for it as it rolls out, or am I not being prompted because of unsupported hardware?
If the latter, what is the easiest way to get the update (without reinstalling Windows 11 etc)?
TIA.
I need the iso for 24H2 not 25H2.
I need to repair my current win 11 24H2.
Apparently it cant be done with the current 25H2 iso.
And apparently I cant upgrade to 25H2 with a broken 24H2.
I can only find 25H2 on the official site.
Surely the only solution cant be to find 24H2 on some rando site?
Have been going around in circles with this now for days.
Note:
I only want 24H2, and only from Microsoft, not from some random third party site I have never heard of.
Update:
Seems like the consensus here, and on other threads I found, is that 24H2 can't be downloaded from Microsoft.
Which means they are forcing people to download their updates from third party websites where they have no control over what is downloaded.
And apparently that has now become the acceptable standard for getting "official" MS software.
That's insane.
No wonder people get hacked.
Welcome to the Megathread for the next major update to Windows 11: Version 24H2 (Build 26100)!
Windows 11 24H2 is an optional update and is now rolling out to Windows 11 users starting today. This is a slow staged rollout, not everyone is getting it at the same time. Keep reading to learn how to install it right now!
Low effort posts about it now being available, including simple screenshots of the Windows update screen, "I just updated" posts, and anything similar will be removed. We get it, we are all excited about this, but we are trying to keep things organized and sane during this hectic day.
The update should be available soon and there is plenty to be excited about. We gathered some resources for you to learn about this big update, some FAQs, and other relevant news!
What's new in this release?
Here are just a few highlights of the many changes and tweaks:
Hotpatching - New method of downloading some updates that will reduce time, bandwidth, and drive space needed. Also reduces how often updates will require a restart. More info
HDR wallpaper support
Create 7-Zip files right from Explorer
Performance improvements, especially for various AMD processors, and everyone will get better performance in Explorer
Context menus now show the text labels in addition to the cut/copy/paste buttons
New setup experience when booting to installation media
You can now install missing network drivers during the Out Of Box Experience
And tons of other little changes. For a fairly comprehensive list, see this ChangeWindows post

How to get it
Windows 11 24H2 is an optional update and is now rolling out to Windows 11 users starting today. This is a slow staged rollout, not everyone is getting it at the same time. You can use the instructions below to upgrade now.
If you were running Windows 11 Insider Preview Builds, and you are currently on the 24H2 Release Preview channel, you can simply opt out of the Insider program on your PC and continue receiving the general release updates as they are released, not Insider ones. Those that are on the Canary channel will likely need to clean and reinstall Windows to get to the production version. Those on the Dev channel (build 26120) are testing 24H2 but with an enablement package to turn on some more features, one can uninstall the enablement package in the Windows Update history to revert to 26100, or do an in-place upgrade using the ISO instructions below.
Method 1: Run Windows Update. This is the easiest method for most Windows 11 users. In the Windows Update portion of Settings, there is a message about updating. Click the button, sit back, and relax! It will look like this: (I still need a 24H2 update available image) Remember, this is a phased rollout so you may not be offered it today, you can still use one of the methods below if you do not want to wait
Method 2: Use the Media Creation Tool or Installation Assistant. Download the Media Creation Tool or Installation Assistant and when prompted, choose "Upgrade this PC". Then follow the prompts that will allow you to keep all your current files, programs, and settings. The Installation Assistant works similarly but does not give you the option to create a bootable media or save the ISO.
Method 3: Download the ISO. There are several sites you can use to download the ISOs. The links below are all legitimate resources. After downloading an ISO, double-click it to mount it, run the setup.exe and follow the prompts. Use the Media Creation Tool mentioned earlier and pick the option to create installation media. From there, choose the ISO option and save it to your computer. Microsoft now allows you to easily download Windows 11 ISOs, you no longer need to spoof your browser agent.
Use Microsoft.com to download the ISO, there is a big blue Download Now button under where it says "Download Windows 11 Disk Image (ISO)"
Use MSDL Project
Direct link to the English US x64 ISO - This link expires after 24 hours of posting, I will update it a few times, but after that, you will have to use one of the methods above. I'm only posting the English US x64 link, any other regions or architecture will need to be sought out on your own: <expired>

Frequently Asked Questions
These questions are specific to the 24H2 update, our Windows 11 FAQ has even more questions and answers that are not specific to this release.
My computer doesn't support Windows 11, but I force-installed it. Will I still get 24H2?
You likely will need to do the same workarounds to get 22H2/23H2 to install.
How much is this upgrade?
Free!
Can I upgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 11 24H2 without first installing the 23H2 version?
Yes! Use the instructions in the second section of this post, the various download links will soon point to the new version. Remember that the old version is 23H2 (build 22631) and the new one is 24H2 (build 26100).
Where is "Recall"? Is it going to spy on me?
The new Recall feature, which can save screenshots while you use your PC so that you can review them later is not yet available. When it is released it likely is not compatible with your current computer, it is only going to be available on a handful of new computers with the "Copilot+" branding including a special NPU processor. Also, the feature will require opting into and consenting to use, it is not enabled by default. Recall will begin rolling out to Insiders in October.
Can we move the taskbar?
Nope! No news has been announced regarding the return of those features. You can upvote and comment on the Feedback Hub posts to ask Microsoft to add them back:

How long does this update take to install?
This is a significantly larger update than the regular monthly updates you have been installing up until now. In some cases it can take a few hours to install, so be patient! You do not need to babysit it, and you can continue to use your computer during most of the installation.
I see the update notification. What should I do to prepare?
Backup your important files and folders. Itโs highly unlikely that something will go wrong (and even more unlikely that it will result in a loss of data), but donโt let yourself be the unlucky one!
You can do this through physical media such a USB or through cloud storage such as OneDrive, Dropbox, etc. If you want to be extra thorough, you can make a system image backup using a tool like Macrium Reflect or Acronis
I just upgraded. What should I do now?
Make sure all your files and folders are exactly where you left them.
If you want extra information, then the Getting Started app along with this thread may prove informative to you.
Nothing. Just carry on using your computer like you used to, and enjoy your new features!
After I upgraded, I have lost a load of hard drive space!
This is due to Windows automatically creating a backup of your previous Windows installation in case you want to rollback or if something goes wrong during the upgrade process.
If you are not experiencing any issues with the upgrade, you can free up space by pressing start, typing โdisc cleanupโ (without quotations) and opening the utility, before navigating to โclean up Windows files,โ selecting โPrevious Installations of Windowsโ and running the utility.
I just upgraded and now want to go back to the previous version of Windows 11 or Windows 10, can I?
You have a small window of opportunity to roll back to your previous version. Open the Settings app, then go to System, then Recovery, then finally pick Go Back. If this option is greyed out, you will need to clean reinstall your previous version.
Windows Update says that my PC is not ready for it yet, how can I fix this?###
There are multiple causes of this, but it comes down to Microsoft identifying a compatibility issue with your computer. This could be either hardware or software related, perhaps a component of your computer or some software installed has a problem with 24H2 that is yet to be resolved. You can use the tool "FU.WhyAmIBlocked" to check for more information. You may be able to resolve this yourself, or you can wait until Microsoft releases the block.

Hi, I am Dave, I will help you with this.
Microsoft are slowly releasing version 24H2 around the world, they monitor that update and when problems are reported, they patch the update and then release it to a wider selection of hardware, currently there are some blocks on some hardware configurations like some Asus laptop models and PC's with WD or Sandisk SSD drives.
If your system is still on version 21H2, that is a very old version of Windows 11, you seem to be missing a lot of updates, including 23H2, is there no other large updates listed in your updates section in the settings app?
If you want to manually install version 24H2, the most successful method is to use the Windows 11 ISO to perform an in-place upgrade.
Please follow the steps, this is then not like re-installing Windows, it is just like an update and your personal files, settings and installed software will not be affected.

to download the Windows 11 ISO
When the ISO file completes downloading
Disconnect from the Internet
Disconnect all external devices with the exception of a mouse or keyboard.
Temporarily disable any 3rd party Anti-virus you may have installed
Then, in Windows File Explorer, double click the ISO and then run Setup.exe and select the Install option.
my problem was a solved differently but i was on version 22H2. i was able to follow this guide to update to 24H2:
Force Windows 11 24H2 update:
- Go to search and type Group Policy or press Win + R and type gpedit.msc
- Computer Configuration > Administrative Template > Windows Components > Windows Update (double click) > Manage updates offered from Windows Update (double click)
- Select when Preview builds and Feature updates are received (double click)
- Select Enable
- Hit apply and ok
- Restart your PC or Open Terminal as Administrator > type
gpupdate /forcehit enter - Go to settings and Check for updates
i copied and pasted from reddit post: https://www.reddit.com/r/Windows11/comments/1fwjndv/guid_for_those_who_wants_to_receive_24h2_now_from/
i am so very confused by this..... i have never had to do anything like this to update. the worse i had was windows 10, i just had to go down a version and reinstall....
So Win11 upgrade assistant tool fails saying my processor fails to meet requirements for Win11 (Intel Core i5-6500T @ 2.5GHz).
Other tests pass.
What is the recommended method to force the upgrade in place anyway? (Keeping my apps/files intact)
Any help/links appreciated. Thanks.
Edit: existing OS is Win11 23H2 and works perfectly well.
So I have an i7 7700k which means I just barely missed out on being able to update to Windows 11 the official way so I'm planning to install Windows 11 using the regedit method a couple of months before the Windows 10 EOL date (trying to ride out Windws 10 as long as possible lol). From what I understand if you do the force install on unsupported hardware you'll still get Windows 11 Security updates and Windows Defender updates like normal for now, but you don't get the major updates like 24H2 or something like that. How do you manually install these major updates after you already forced installed Windows 11?
Force Windows 11 24H2 update:
Go to search and type Group Policy or press Win + R and type gpedit.msc
Computer Configuration > Administrative Template > Windows Components > Windows Update (double click) > Manage updates offered from Windows Update (double click)
Select when Preview builds and Feature updates are received (double click)
Select Enable
Hit apply and ok
Restart your PC or Open Terminal as Administrator > type
gpupdate /forcehit enterGo to settings and Check for updates
**sorry for Guide spelling up there
** Windows Home edition don't have Group Policy keep that in mind

Hello, i'm new in this kind of things so i want to clean install windows in my pc, but i'm not sure of who to do it, anyway, searching here, i find out that i could install w11 with rufus, but i'm reading that the 24h2 version it's so buggy.
I downloaded the w11 24h2 from massgravel and i'm blocked in rufus thinking if i need to disable the bitlocker or not, should i pick that option? and install the 24h2 version or the 23h2?
And, do i need to change something in BIOS to have the best performance possible from my laptop? (primarily to use autocad, revit and gaming)
if anyone could tell me if i'm doing this correctly i would be grateful, my pc it's a lenovo loq 15iax9.
pd. sorry if i misspell something or my gramatic is bad, english isn't my mother language
