Two things immediately pop out to me: To support the 9900KF P0 you need at least BIOS P1.90, to support the 9900KF R0 you need BIOS P4.0. If your BIOS version is too low you'll have to use a supported CPU to update it first. Table . It could just be the light, but there seems to be a streak of different looking pins in the socket. Are those pins shaped exactly like the rest? It looks like they may have been flattened. Answer from computix on reddit.com

r/techsupport on Reddit: Dr Debug 00, powering on but won't post
July 12, 2019 -

I've been putting together a computer for the first time today, and I've ran into a big issue. My motherboard is a z390 taichi from asrock, and my cpu is a 9900kf. When powering on, the fans spin, the watercooler starts pumping, and the lights turn on, but doesn't post and spits out the error code 00 on Dr Debug.

According to the motherboard manual, 00 means a cpu problem, and advises to check the cpu and reset the cmos. I've taken the cpu out and put it back in twice, it can't possibly be wrongly installed. The arrow is lined up, and its very snug over the socket. I've just been taking the cmos battery out every time to reset it, so it can't be that.

I'm reusing storage drives from my old, prebuilt computer, that ran on a gigabyte made x370 chipset. I don't really understand drivers and the software side, but is that possibly the problem? It has windows 10, but gigabyte drivers for an amd board, and I'm not sure if that would be a problem.

https://imgur.com/gallery/IAd9F14

I've plugged the cpu power cable in and out of the motherboard, no luck. I put the powercable in a different cpu socket on my psu, still no luck. I'm at a loss for what I fucked up here.

Edit: It was the processor. I built a computer about 4 months ago with: mobo: Asrock z690 PG Velocita, Cpu: Intel Core i7 12700KF, Psu: Corsair RM850x, Gpu: OEM Dell RTX 3090, Ram: Crucial 2x16GB DDR5 5600, M.2 Samsung 990 Pro 2TB, A couple HDDs, Optical drive, Thermaltake ux200 cooler

Before the issue instability: every couple weeks I would put the computer into sleep and turn it on a few hours later and it would just be a black screen, no rgb peripherals or monitors lighting up/or responsive. When that happened I would just turn it off with the power button and then turn it back on. Sometimes that worked but if it didn’t I’d turn it back off, then flip the power switch on the power supply, turn on, a few handfuls of codes would cycle quickly thru dr debug, then it would post. And that always seemed to do the trick. I’ve never had a computer this unstable but also never had an asrock board so I just assumed it’s normal for this brand.

The issue: A couple days ago I started computer - rgb fans and board lights working right, cpu and video card fans spinning, fans still at desired slow speeds, but no post and dr debug held a 00 code.

First, I tried clearing the cmos by removing battery for 10 mins and that did nothing except sped fans up to default speed but rgb patterns held settings, debug: 00

Then, I tried removing the cpu, inspected socket, looked under processor, cleared the cmos, reinstalled cpu and cooler, started back up and nothing. Debug stuck at 00 no post. Edit: also forgot to mention that after this, I removed a stick of ram at a time and no luck.

Tested psu: Switched around pci-e and cpu power cables at psu end since rm850x allows that, clear cmos and nothing. 00

Yesterday an Aresgame 750w Guinea pig came in, tried hooking that up instead, Still 00, no post.

Today an i3 12100f and two sticks of ddr5 4800 are coming in to test. While I’m at work though - any ideas on what the issue might be? I’m hoping this isn’t a dead board and just a bad cpu instead because I’d rather try to deal with Intel honestly.

I am putting up a computer with B650D4U and AMD Ryzen 9 7900X. First time boot up got Dr. Debug 00 code. Power is on, fans are running, but there's nothing. IPMI is working, but BIOS version is not shown. Upgrade and flash the BMI to be the latest 20.05, then tried to flush BIOS to the latest using this download link - https://www.asrockrack.com/general/productdetail.asp?Model=B650D4U#Download. Flash seems to go through, but after reboot, still the same thing. BIOS info is unavailable.

Any helps are much appreciated.

December 11, 2015 -

I just finished my new build and tried to get my machine to boot, only to receive the 00 Dr Debug code on my Asrock Mobo. This code is defined as "Please check if the CPU is installed correctly and then clear CMOS."

The first thing I did is strip my setup down to the bare minimum. I tried just the MOBO, RAM, SSD, CPU, and CPU cooler and got the same result. I removed the SSD, and same result. Next I pulled out the CPU to make sure it was lined up properly, then reset it and got the same result. I took pictures of the back of the CPU, the CPU socket, and the general setup of my testing. I have both the 8pin and 24pin power cables connected to my motherboard. I have done the testing with monitor and keyboard/mouse connected and with nothing connected to the rear I/O panel.

Any suggestions on what could be wrong or things I should try? Is it likely that I have a bad CPU or MOBO? (I just bought them both new)

r/ASRock on Reddit: ASRock X470 Taichi randomly shuts off then Dr Debug flashes 00
May 9, 2022 -

I have been having an issue with my pc that I built in 2019. At various random times it will lockup, the display goes black and then Dr Debug flashes 00, I then have to use the psu power switch to turn the power offf, turn the switch back on then use the main power button. This has been happening more the past month with 3 instances this week and it would maybe do this 1 to 2 times a year since I built it and I just don't know what's happening.

Build is:

2700X not overclocked on a Corsair h150i pro (zero temp issues, thermal paste was replaced this year)

16gb TridentZ Gskill CL14 (2x8)

Sapphire Nitro Vega 64

EVGA 850w PSU

Strange thing is I can never replicate the issue or get it to do it by running it hard or gaming as it seems to just do it when I am browsing online you watching YouTube.

Is it possible the motherboard has always had a problem and its getting ready to go out since it has done this 3 times in the last several days and a few times a year since being built?

r/ASRock on Reddit: ASTROCK X670-E TAICHI CARRARA STUCK AT 00 DR DEBUG / POST CODE
August 27, 2023 -

I'm trying to build a new PC, bought all new parts. I choose an Asrock X670-E Taichi Carrara as my motherboard, but the PC will not start and it shows code 00 on DR. Debug. Never worked, completely new build with a new Ryzen 7800X3D CPU. What I tried so far:

1 - Bios flash back to versions 1.28, 1.24 and 1.04, all show the same error

2 - Tested the PSU on another PC, it works fine

3 - Tried with memory, and without memory, with cooler and without cooler

4 - CMOS reset

Nothing works still stuck at 00, PC won't boot or show anything. What else can I try? I'm thinking about asking for RMA.

Full list of components is:

PSU: Super flower leadex III 850W

CPU: Ryzen 7 7800X3D

MEMORY: 2X 16GB CORSAIR VEGEANCE DDR5

VGA: RTX 3070

But for now I'm trying with just PSU, MB and CPU. It should at least progress from 00 to another code.

Here is 2 photos of it. Testing with bios 1.28:

Please can someone help? I'm very frusted and sad with all this situation.

Hi, I've been getting this Dr. Debug 00 error, no display, and no post or beeps (I used the old small speaker from my previous build on the new motherboard, so I only think that I've got it plugged in the right place) upon booting up my new pc build for the first time. PS: this info of mine I've copied and pasted off of another website I shared it to too, so if the text seems out of place, it's because I've copied and pasted them in the order of replies I also gave to people's responses.

List anything you've done in attempt to diagnose or fix the problem.

I've built another pc before a few years ago, and it worked fine straight away with only one small mistake, yet this one I have run into this stressful problem I can't seem to solve despite searching online everywhere.

I have done countless CMOS resets, reseated my cpu and cpu cooler a few times, while reapplying thermal paste, I finally gave in and returned my motherboard for a replacement, and the same error still appears, so it can't be a dead motherboard.

I have tried installing my old power supply to see if the new power supply is also dead, but the same error happens, but both the old and the new power supply's fan does spin, and everything that is connected to the power supply directly, such as the graphics card start up, as in the graphics card lights up and its three fans all spin, and there are start-up noises coming from the front of the pc too, (I think the noises are from the optical drive).

If i plug the case fans into the power supply through the molex cables, they all start up full speed too, but if they are only plugged into the fan headers, they don't start up at all, suggesting that the power supply again must be fine I'm guessing?

I've tried removing the graphics card and plugging the monitor into the motherboard Display port slot, and still nothing is solved. The only things left I can think of are that either my CPU itself is damaged and needs replacing, or that my RAM could possibly be incompatible with my motherboard? I did look on my motherboard's website and I couldn't find my exact model RAM on it's compatibility list, but there was very very similar model numbers to mine in that list, so I'm hoping they're compatible.

I did try swapping both rams to slots 2 and 4 from 1 and 3 as stated should be the correct way in the motherboard's manual, and I did try just slot 2, and just slot 4, and none of those solved the error.

I did try taking the motherboard out of the case and resting it on a settee arm... i guess not the best surface, but it isn't conductive so it should eliminate the possibility of any shorting that may occur, and only connected the 24 and 8 pin cables as mentioned, the error 00 still shows, and the cpu fan doesn't spin :( i've tried literally everything now, the difference was, I also tried my old working power supply, and it seemed to work a tiny bit better in that the first few attempts of startup made the cpu fan spin but quite very slowly as it it was struggling to run it, also upon force shutting down the pc with that older power supply in made the blue LEDs of the case fans startup for about half a second along with those case fans also start to spin for half a second before they stopped again... strange. but also after starting it up about 4 times, the cpu fan then no longer started up, taking me back to square one again. Now I've installed my new power supply once again, and still no luck trying other solutions.

I looked up someone else's solution on another thread where they said the cooler master 212 was too tight on their motherboard, and when they loosened it, the pc started up fine after encountering all the errors i have, however I tried loosing mine quite and it still didn't work, but after testing it I realised the screws were too loose on the heat sink and so it wasn't very stable, so when I went to save it, there was an odd smell coming from ner the cpu socket, but I don't know whether it was burnt electronics or just melted thermal paste? I've never encountered burnt electronics before so I don't know what it smells like. EDIT: I think it was actually just melted thermal paste!

EDIT: Turns out it definitely isn't my Power supply or my Graphics card that is the problem, as I've just rebuilt my old pc using the old motherboard and CPU, but also using my new power supply and graphics card too, therefore they both work flawlessly. This definitely leaves it down to either the motherboard, CPU, or maybe RAM (?) in which is the problem, though if it's the motherboard, it will be the 2nd time i'd have to get a replacement...

Hello. I have had this PC for 1.5years now, and I have never had a single problem, until today. I turned on my computer and immediately, Dr. Debug displays a code of 00, which could mean that the CPU is not initializing.

I have cleared the CMOS several times, by pressing the "Clear CMOS" button, removing the battery and waiting for 30 minutes, and moving the CMOS jumper to "Reset".

I currently have the PC on a bench setup with one stick of RAM, and the proper cables going into the GPU, 12V, ATX, and the CPU fan is properly plugged in.

When I press the power button, I am immediately greeted with the 00 code and all fans spin up, however, there is no display from the GPU. I have also removed the GPU and plugged in the video to the on-board graphics.

I have tried with multiple PSU's aswell, and I'm not getting anywhere...

If you have any ideas, PLEASE help!

Thanks!

Parts List

Ive booted up my first pc build for the first time and i'm getting nothing through to the monitor. I connected the displayport, then a hdmi cable through the graphics card and nothing.

It's got a Dr Debug code of 00, which seems to be a CPU problem. I reseated the CPU, reset CMOS and still shows 00 and nothing through to the monitor

Everythings lit up, usbs working, fans are working but nothings going to the monitor

What can I do to start troubleshooting this? It's my first build, so I could have done something dumb in the set up, but i'm hoping the CPU isn't DOA as they're hard to come by at the moment.

Should I take the motherboard out and test it seperate from the rest of the machine? I have no idea how to run it out of the case, but i'm willing to learn.

This is a new build, X870E Nova WiFi, AMD 9800X3D, Corsair Dominator DDR5 RAM, 2X 32 GB sticks. I do not have XMP enabled, it is set to standard in BIOS and Task Manager shows 4800 MT/s with 61.6 GB available.

As the title says, the Dr. Debug code changes fairly constantly during bootup. It is currently going between 44, 45, 46, 46, 47, 48, 49, 50, 51, 52 and probably others I am missing, in random order. I saw a few 60s last bootup I'm sure. Restarting does not stop this. The system itself seems to be running fine- I'm posting this from the computer. Games run, I'm connected to the internet, the machine is not laggy.

The internet says these codes are primarily related to the RAM possibly being bad. I don't really know where to start with this, the last time I built a computer it just all worked and I got to AA on first bootup.

Edit: I forgot to say I tried reseating the RAM, which did nothing.

Edit 2: After posting this, I tried resetting the CMOS for old time's sake. Now after boot the display just says 00.

Hi all, I built this PC about a year and a half ago, everything was great up until a week ago, I came home and PC wouldnt boot, got Code 00. No UI on boot. It'd reset itself after 10 or 15 seconds, then power back on with the same code.

For those unfamiliar, code 00 reads "Check CPU installation or reset CMOS.

I've both used the reset CMOS button on the back of the motherboard, and I've removed and replaced the battery.

I didn't have a spare motherboard or CPU so I brought it to a guy at a shop who took the CPU and cooler and put it in a brand new MSI board that he'd confirmed working with other hardware, no luck.

So, I ordered a new i7 8700k (same cpu as before) and just replaced it.... nothing.

8 pin 12v ATX connector is plugged in, RAM slotted properly, GPU slotted properly. All fans working. Everything's plugged into the PSU.

I saw a thread where someone said to flip the physical xmp switch, so for shits and giggles I did that. Curiously, it stopped doing the auto reboot after 10-15 secs when I did that. It just started and stayed on with code 00.

If anyone has anything else for me to try, I'd really appreciate it, I have no clue what it could be. If my cpu didnt work on his mobo, and a new cpu doesnt work on mine...what are the chances I came home to both a fried cpu AND mobo? I already spent a lot on this new cpu :(

Guess I'll get this out of the way first, I am very new to building PCs and seeing Debug messages scares the crap out of me since this was such a large purchase. Last night after booting my PC I was watching a YouTube video and the screen went black and the MOBO was flashing a Debug Code 00.

This build is barely a month old and hasn't shown a single problem up until last night. I turned the computer completely off and tried booting again. Everything ran normally. I played a game (Lords of the Fallen) for about 2 hours without a problem and shut the computer down. I researched the problem online but I can't seem to find a definite answer for what happened nor could I find an answer to what needs to be done besides resetting the BIOS on the MOBO.

Are problems like the one I described a one off problem? Or is it indicative of a larger problem that I'm not aware of?

Has anyone else experienced these problems? Are they going to lead to problems further down the road? Thank You

Ive taken out all memory to see if it settled on error code 53 but it still cycled, albeit it did have 53 in the cycle

Ive uninstalled and reinstalled the cpu countless times. No pins are bent.

Ive cleared CMOS after each time.

According to this website (2017), the error codes are:

00 - not used

0F - microcode not loaded

7F - Reserved for future AMI DXE codes

r/techsupport on Reddit: Asrock Rack x470d4u no longer POSTing. Dr. Debug counts down from 99?
December 17, 2023 -

Hi there. This is my first server mobo, so forgive me for not knowing any nuances.

Basically, the motherboard was performing fine with my Ryzen 3600, but I got a new chip (5600X), and updated the BIOS to accommodate the new generation. Ended up being part of a new build in a new case. BIOS update seemed to have gone fine. Was able to POST no problem and saw the latest version (4.20). This was all done outside the case to make sure I was good to go before all the hassle.

When I did move things in the case, though, things got funky. I got one good boot out of it, turned it off to relocate it to its home, and then it never posted again. I've since taken it apart again and tried the following:
- Reseating the RAM modules (2 sticks)
- Removing 1 module and trying the other module in 3/4 slots (slot B2 is blocked by the CPU cooler, unfortunately, but willing to try it eventually)
- Clearing the CMOS and trying it again with just 1 RAM slot populated

All of the above except one scenario resulted in the Dr. Debug LED kicking off a countdown from 99 to 00 and then restarting it. The one exception is when I tried to populate RAM slot B2 with a single stick. Then, I got nothing. Checking the manual mentions nothing about that countdown timer thing. First time ever seeing that myself. The last code I see before the countdown starts is B6, which maps to DXE_NVRAM_CLEANUP in the manual. Seeing as I've cleared the CMOS several times, I'm sure I've dumped the NVRAM. Has anyone seen something like this before? Would appreciate any/all assistance/pointers/sanity checks.
