Replacing drawer slides -how to find the right length?
Replacing drawer guide/tracks - need advice
I will second the recommendation for new hardware. You're looking for 'drawer slides'. The ball bearing 'soft close' (auto closing like on fancy kitchen cabinets) versions are really nice if you want to upgrade.

Hi everyone, hopefully this is the right subreddit to post this in. I am trying to replace the drawer slides for my kitchen drawers because they are super old and hard to open. I want to replace with ball bearing, side mount, soft close drawer slides.
My question is: what length slides should I buy? The drawer measures 18" but the old slides are 24" and the cabinet is also aprox. 24-25" deep (see second picture). Do I buy drawer slides that match the length of the drawer (18"), or slides that match the length of the actual cabinetry (where the drawer sits)?
I hope this makes sense, thank you in advance.

I need to replace some drawer tracks on some old furniturelike in the photo. It's basically just a metal C-channel but I can't find what I need online. I found the plastic guides easy enough on Amazon but the rail itself is giving me problems. What do I need to be looking for? Or should I just get a completely new type of drawer track setup? These are dresser drawers.

Probably easier to buy complete new tracks, if the furniture is older. Most you can buy at the big home stores.
