July 24, 2024New to Dremel - How to prevent sanding disk from flying off of mandrel?
I always put the mandrel in the collet and then push the locking button to stop it turning and tighten the mandrel, and then tighten the screw again just to make sure while still pushing the locking button in. If you did it the other way round it probably wasn’t as tight as you thought, that is how I read it anyway. More on reddit.com

Replace the shaft for those drums with longer same diameter bolt and use self locking nut or 2 countered nuts to don't allow it to come loose. More on reddit.com

There’s supposed to be a pin that sticks through that with a screw and washer on it. The pin is long enough that you chuck it in the Dremel while coming out the other side of the rubber. Remove the screw and washer to put the sanding pad on. Once on, put in the screw and washer. As you tighten, the rubber will compress and squeeze outward applying a clamping force to the inside of the sanding pad.
