I’m going to be buying a bunch of Ikea furniture, but their dresser reviews have me wary. Truthfully, I was planning on getting just the dresser from Home Depot instead, but they don’t have in-home delivery for some reason.
My question is, is it even worth it to get a dresser from Ikea these days or am I just going to be frustrated with the inefficient drawers and regret my purchase? Is there any alternative, like maybe getting a Kallax with fabric bins?
I would only be storing clothes in it, so I don’t need something heavy duty, just some kind of receptacle that I can actually fully get in to on a daily basis.

I’ve had my Ikea dresser for close to 30 years- no joke. Don’t remember the model name, but it looks just like the Malm but with drawer knobs. So yes, they can last a very long time. My friend who is very handy always puts glue and extra screws when building any kind of DIY furniture, so you can ask the person building it for you to do the same thing. (I didn’t do that for mine, but I think it’s a great tip.)

I’ve had a few Malm and Hemnes dressers over the past decade and they’ve always been great. A few of them I even bought second-hand. But be careful of some of the newer ikea dressers because the drawers don’t extend all the way. Kallax bins would drive me crazy for everyday clothing use because you’d have to use two hands. One to hold the bin open and another to pull the clothes out. The advantage of a proper drawer is that you can leave it open while you dig around in it.
