All cheats of drawers will say they have to be attached to the wall. What you do when you get home is your business. If purchased in US you have to sign a waiver, so if it tips over and crushes your foot/child/pet, that’s on you. With that said, there isn’t anything else with the flip up top/mirror. You could do a small NORDLI setup with 6 drawers that would look similar-ish. More on reddit.com

I’ve long been searching for the perfect tall skinny chest of drawers for a particular space in my bedroom. A while back, I came across the MALM Chest of 6 drawers, black-brown/mirror glass, 40x123 cm, which is absolutely perfect and would also match my other MALM dressers & nightstands currently in my room. However, I can only seem to find it available in other countries.

It was in the US, but it's been discontinued for a few years now. I doubt it'll ever return since malm is being replaced with storklinta. Secondhand would be your best bet if you want that exact one.

Malm 6-drawer chest w/mirror
The most ideal storage I've found in Ikea for my WFH area (yea, i know it looks like it's meant for the bedroom, but whatever) due to
- height
- number of drawers and varied sizes
- the mirror/jewelry container is a cute addition
.... except for the part that says it has to be attached to the wall.
Anyone know any other storage units I can look into? (they don't have to be necessarily similar to malm -- i'm also looking at other units that have fewer drawers/shelves). Or if you have the same malm unitt, but didn't attach it to the wall, lemme know lol! Thanks

We have both this one and the bigger 6 drawer one and neither were ever attached to the wall. It absolutely can stand on its own and I do have heavier items in the narrow one(currently holds power tools in our storage area). However! We do not have children or dogs that could potentially topple it over and I don’t just open all drawers at once, so basically risk is minimal in our case. If you do have kids that’s a different story…
