How to Get Your NJ Driver History & Get Points Removed
April 28, 2025 - Knowing your driving history is ... New Jersey, your driving “history” or “record” is tracked by the NJMVC in a document called a Driver History Abstract....

Where can I get my driving history?
If a violation or police report was issued it would be on your abstract. You can get it from DMV. How long DMV cares about it doesn't matter (your abstract, i believe, tells your ENTIRE history). What your insurance company cares about it is all that matters, and that will vary from customer to customer and policy to policy. While its an important part, its only one of many things that get factored in to your rates. There isn't a way to "cheat" the system as far as insurance goes. Its whatever their computer thinks is the amount they need to charge you to keep their portfolio balanced. Different carriers will offer different "discounts" based off all kinds of things, (careers, union memberships, driving courses, bundling policies, etc). Only your agent will have a guess as to what it will cost, and even then, its just an educated guess. More on reddit.com

Look up anyone's (NJ only) driving record... why is this public?!
This is not the same as "looking up a driving record," that is called a driving abstract, and those are not public records. This is a list of motor vehicle charges which the driver may or may not have been plead guilty to, had reduced, obtained dismissal of or been convicted for. So, really, it's quite useless except if you wanted to know if a summons was issued to X person for Y offense. Certain "law firms" use this data to send out robo-mailings. More on reddit.com

r/newjersey on Reddit: Where can I get my driving history?
February 6, 2025 -

I have a NJ driving license. I got into an accident in sept 2022. I was at fault and police recorded it. I am now planning to get added to my boyfriend’s car insurance so I will be able to drive his car. Before I get a quote from the insurance company I wanted to check my driving history myself. Where will I get this driving history from?

Also, if this accident is still on my records, how long will it stay? And is there anything I can do to take this accident off my history sooner so I can avoid huge insurance premium?
