I have a couple of rooms at the farmhouse that are getting new drywall. I've been looking at these for a few months. I was tickled when it popped up on sale for $110. I brought one home today.

Anyone else have any experience with these?

Just used mine for the first time this weekend. I got it on Black Friday for $99. It worked so well. I used it to sand off glue residue left behind from old wallpaper. I hooked it up to a shop vac and it let no mess behind.

As a drywall sander it’s subpar. I’ve done more than 3000 sqft with it and now just use normal sander on a pole. The biggest problem it has is unlike festool it doesn’t really suck up all the dust paired with a vacuum. It’s less dust but still a ton and it’s very heavy so applying pressure with it properly is hard so you either don’t sand enough or leave gouges. In the end I feel like it’s not very useful for drywall, maybe it might have other uses but so far it’s benched for me.

I bought a 9 gallon vacuum, the drywall sander, and cyclone dust separator in hopes of using the system to take popcorn ceilings off. Problem is I can’t seem to figure out how to make the last connection between the cyclone and the sander. I’ve tried the hose adapter that came with the sander but that’s also not a snug fit. Anyone have experience with this?

I don’t have any of the items in the photo unfortunately, but it’s worth a shot getting the “BAUER Micro-Cleaning Accessory Kit for Wet/Dry Vacuums, 9-Piece - Item 59695“. It has a couple adapters that fit Bauer products pretty well. In my case, it was adapting the Bauer random orbital sander to a 1 7/8” hose. Play around with combining fernco’s, adapters, and tape if nothing else works. Getting stuff to fit shop vac hoses is really, REALLY annoying. Side note, that masterforce compressor looks eerily similar to the fortress 5 gallon. Betting those have the same manufacturer.

I bought the bauer drywall sander to knock out a room, hooked it up to my 6gal Bauer shop vac and I still get dust dropping from the sanding end. Additionally, I don’t notice much of a difference when changing the suction setting.

This may sound like a very stupid question but are you aligning the sanding pads so all of the holes from the backing pad are exposed? I may be wrong but if even one hole is covered it’ll mess with the dust collection. We sell a ton of them and I’ve not seen one come back and is generally known to be a really nice tool

I'm having the same issue. Just bought it. Sanded deck with it. Did a good job there but was outside and no dust collection was necessary. Now trying to sand a ceiling which I just skim coated (poorly) and it's not sucking worth a darn through the holes on the sanding disc. I can barely feel it with my fingers. I have good suction at the shop vac when it isn't hooked to the sander. Shop vac is a vac master 5 gal 3 HP with a cartridge filter and a dust bag. I was expecting it to catch the dust better. This thing is heavy as shit trying to do the ceiling with it and is kicking my ass. When I stop to take a break and turn the sander over a ton of dust falls out from around the pad and the air flow from the motor blows it all over the damn place. This is an old thread but did you ever find a solution? First time using a drywall sander and wishing I had bought the WEN which was lighter. But the Bauer seemed decent and I happened to have a gift card to use.

I cant spend $1000+ on a 7lb mirka, so what is my best option, trying to keep the price to less than that? This is for a 2000sqft home, not production use. Must be electric, too old to hand sand.

If you just need it for one project rent from Home Depot.

I bought a Wen sander with 2 heads for like $150 and it works just fine. Could be better for sure, but great for that price point. Wouldn’t use it for full time drywall, but worked great for my 2000sq ft house and the occasional drywall jobs I do as a carpenter
