r/harrypotter on Reddit: Dumbledore, book death quotes - urgent help needed
December 29, 2023 -

okay so sorry for this post but i need help.

my nana passed away about two weeks ago after a long battle with cancer. we lost her before christmas and it's been really horrific.

i have been put in charge of writing and delivering her eulogy and after the experience she has had, i wanted to include some beautiful quotes i read from the books about how dumbeldore views death, only i cannot find the quotes or remember which book i read them in because my mind has been all over the place.

its not the "don't pity the dead harry" one. the one i am looking for goes along the lines of "death now would be like going to bed after a hard day" or something like that.

please help if you can, the funeral is on wednesday and my nerves are all over the place. i just thought that specific quote was fairly beautiful.

thanks and love to all x

Dumbledore smiled at the look of amazement on Harry's face. “To one as young as you, I'm sure it seems incredible, but to Nicolas and Perenelle, it really is like going to bed after a very, very long day. After all, to the well-organised mind, death is but the next great adventure.” From the end of Book 1 I’m so sorry for your loss, OP.

"To the well-organized mind, death is but the next great adventure." - Albus Dumbledore, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. This quote reflects a calm and almost philosophical approach to death, highlighting it as a natural and inevitable progression, a journey to something beyond our current understanding. "Do not pity the dead, Harry. Pity the living, and above all, those who live without love." - Albus Dumbledore, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Dumbledore emphasizes the importance of empathy and love for those around us, reminding us to cherish life and those we still have in our lives. "The ones that love us never really leave us. You can always find them, in here." - Sirius Black, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. This quote speaks to the enduring presence of loved ones in our hearts and memories, offering comfort in the idea that those who have passed continue to live on through us. "You think the dead we loved ever truly leave us? You think that we don't recall them more clearly than ever in times of great trouble?" - Albus Dumbledore, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. Dumbledore reflects on the lasting impact of those who have passed, suggesting that their influence and memories become more potent during challenging times, guiding and supporting us. "It is the unknown we fear when we look upon death and darkness, nothing more." - Albus Dumbledore, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. Here, Dumbledore addresses the natural fear of death, attributing it to the fear of the unknown, and encourages a broader perspective to understand and accept it as a part of life.

11 Harry Potter Quotes About Loss To Help You Through Grief
January 26, 2018 - How J.K. Rowling's characters cope with loss, death, and evil has profoundly influenced the way that I cope with those things in my own life. Unfortunately, every person has to experience loss at some point in their life. There will be times when you'll identify with Angry Harry — you know, the boy who threw Dumbledore's possessions around his office because he can't bear to accept that Sirius has died.

My favorite quote is always going to be from Dumbledore “Do not pity the dead, Harry, pity the living, and above all those who live without love”. Anyone else have a favorite quote…?
Adding this before everyone else does because it’s true, real world magic: 'Of course it is happening inside your head, Harry, but why on earth should that mean that it is not real?' More on reddit.com
