The teaser will come out before Wuthuring Heights (February) or The Bride!(March)… those are the two big WB movies coming out early 2026. Orrrr they drop it during the Super Bowl in February

What do you think the third film by Denis Villeneuve should be called? Right now I’m seeing people making arguments for both titles. Dune Messiah is obviously a great choice because that’s the name of the book it will be based on, and it does sound cool. But it might look disjointed to fans of the films who don’t necessarily know about the books:
Dune Part One, Dune Part Two, Dune Messiah.
On the other hand, Dune Part Three also makes sense because it would make the trilogy have nice clean titles:
Dune Part One, Dune Part Two, Dune Part Three.
What do you think the producers and Villeneuve are going to end up naming the third film?

Although I personally feel Messiah is almost required reading to enjoy the first Dune, I much prefer the title Dune: Messiah. Specifically because, as an adaptation of the first novel, Part One and Two complete the book. Part Three would imply there's more of that book to continue adapting. Also Messiah sounds powerful, fitting the unique story that it is. Especially with Denis suggesting he wants the third film to be very different and have its own unique style compared to the first two parts.

I am spending the day watching the Lynch film (which I have always liked) and the Sci Fi miniseries before Dune (2021) premiers on HBO at 6:00 PM EST tonight. Since the worldwide box office is doing relatively well the chances of a part 2 are getting better. I am hoping that Denis Villeneuve is already planning a third film based on Dune Messiah. What scenes and themes would you like to see on screen from that book?

Villeneuve has actually said that if the first two movies are successful he would like to make it a trilogy by adapting Messiah.

The hardest part would be conveying the weight of the jihad. Just writing "12 years later, 61 billion people died" at the start of the film really isn't enough

A bit of a spoiler for those who have not read the books but in the next book Paul has already won the holy war ( in some sense) and is now dealing with assassination coups and his own guilt. This alone could make for a great movie, but I think maybe Dennis could go for something a bit more ambitious.
How about the movie splinters between few scenes of Paul during the holy war and then (the largest portion of the film) Paul after. The scenes of Paul during the holy war would have to be pretty much all new scenes which were not in the book And they would showcase the development of his empire, his growth, and his continuous sense of regret, as well a showcasing different planets and offering exciting and cinematic action sequences. The scenes of Paul after the holy war will have an internally defeated Paul atreides reflecting on what he has done.
This juxtaposition could serve to showcase the dynamic of how as his empire grew, his soul fell.
Am I unto anything or is this just straight gibberish?

I hope they show just flashbacks of it, maybe in the scenes where Paul deals with his guilt, similarly to what they did in the first 2 films with Paul's prescience, very vague but still enough for the audience to grasp the violence of the Jihad.

I think Dune “3” could be interesting if it shows the Holy War, Paul’s guilt building, and maybe ends with the birth of the twins or his self exile… I think it depends if WB wants to continue the franchise after this? TBH I think Leto’s arc is too much for the general population. I guess you could focus on Duncan but still… I feel like ending it on a bittersweet note, and maybe Paul regaining his humanity could be an ok way to wrap it up. If WB won’t continue it after DV then maybe end on a text scroll with that “Leto fulfills what his father began in achieving the golden path…” I think people will be confused if you skip the jihad completely. War can also bring Paul and Chani back together, and I’m not sure people want to watch 3 hours of assassination attempts..
