r/ASRock on Reddit: Getting d0 "DXE_CPU_ERROR" with ROMED8-2T Motherboard / EPYC 7113 CPU, all help appreciated!
December 20, 2024 -

Hello,

I've been trying to debug an issue with the ROMED8-2T motherboard with the EPYC 7113 CPU.

When I boot, the LCD screen on the motherboard (dr debug) says d0 - meaning "DXE_CPU_ERROR" according to manual.

Here's what I've tried so far to fix this:

- A different model of RAM from a different supplier

- Upgraded Bios to 3.80 (this was the default on the motherboard)

- Cleared CMOS

- In addition to the 8-pin CPU plug, also occupied the 4pin CPU plug (Tried the split 4 pin plugs, 8 pin plugs for that slot, etc.)

- Upgraded Bios to 3.20 via the web interface (IPMI) [Needed according to site for compatibility with 7113]

- Seat 1 stick of ram in slot C1 [Where the manual says to put the ram for 1 slot mode]

- reseat the CPU

- reseat the RAM

- Tried different RAM sticks

*Something I suspect*:

- I don't have the 4-Pin plug plugged in for the CPU, and I know the 7113 is a high TDP CPU. Could this be why it's failing to boot? *Are you supposed to plug in the 4-Pin connector for the EPYC 7113?*

One thing I'll also add: When I boot without the stick of ram in, it says 10 on Dr debug. I've tried 3 different sticks of ram, but I ordered a different type of ram just in case.

Note: This CPU is genuine/official, NOT an engineering sample / ES.

I am using officially supported HMAA8GR7AJR4N-XN SK HYNIX 64GB memory modules.

Does anyone who anything else I can troubleshoot here?

Thank you everyone, any help is extremely appreciated.

UPDATE: tried occupying 4-pin from my rm1000x PSU but still no luck.

UPDATE 2: Tried a different model of RAM from a different retailer (supported by Mono), same error.

Update 3: Turned out to be the CPU. I replaced it with a similar CPU in the same generation (EPYC 7282) and it's working fine now.

DXE Errors? RIVE - Republic of Gamers Forum - 478602
March 6, 2024 - 60: DXE Core is started 2 hangs and both on DXE related things? Not random weirdness. Plus I never got these errors on the older 3930k, so maybe the CPU wasn't actually the problem but it's given me a helping hand in finding out the real issue. Now, granted, I'm not 100% sure the voltage/clock speeds are stable as I just put in the new one.

DXE is " Driver Execution Environment" which is indeed part of the EFI framework and may be considered part of the BIOS, so without further information (which may not be possible) I think this is pretty close to the answer.

r/techsupport on Reddit: PC hangs on Code 64 (CPU DXE initialisation)
March 1, 2023 -

Im a little stumped on the issue my PC is presenting me. Booted my PC up this morning but got into Windows and everything took ages to actually show up. I went to reboot it and it just hangs at the POST with code 64 which is the CPU DXE initialisation. It eventually, maybe after about a minute or 2 it finally boots but takes absolutely ages to boot into windows but from there the PC is fine apart of having to load windows specific applications, sometimes they work but other times they stop responding or take ages to load.

Booting the PC up from a full shutdown state presents no issue other than a slow boot.

Is this a sign of a failing CPU or another issue, maybe with BIOS?

r/homelab on Reddit: Supermicro stuck on system initializing with POST error code DE
November 13, 2021 -

I bought a used supermicro board and I'm trying to use it, but so far no luck and it is stuck during POST. There is a number of google result about supermicro POST error codes and code manuals (like this one) but somehow I was able to find the one which has not been mentioned in any source: "DE". I've tried to change RAM sticks and slots but nothing has changed. Moreover, even without any RAM insterted the error is the same.

Has anyone encountered this before? Any ideas how to trouble-shoot this?

I used to have the same board. I recently upgraded to a ASUS Pro WS X570-ACE and a Ryzen 5950X. I gave the CPU, memory, heatsink, and motherboard to my father. You need to give a lot more detail. What processor? Example: Intel Xeon E5-1620 v3 3.5GHz Is the processor known good? What memory? brand? speed? number of sticks? Registered? Unregistered? ECC? Is the memory known good? Motherboard beeps? There is a built-in PC speaker. So you should hear some beeps. Bent socket pins? CPU oriented and seated properly? Where did you buy the motherboard? Reddit? Local? Amazon? eBay? Friend? Does the post code change if you remove the CPU? From some googling it is likely problems: DXE error, which basically means CPU/chipset/motherboard initialization problem The microcode isn't up to date enough for your processor, aka you need a bios update before you can use the processor you are trying to use. You can likely upgrade the bios through IPMI. I say this, because I once misflashed the bios from Linux. I used IPMI to reflash it and recover the board. You might also be able to get more useful information out of IPMI. Link to manual to help with using IPMI: https://www.supermicro.com/manuals/motherboard/C612/MNL-1643.pdf If it is the microcode and you can't update through IPMI, then you will need another compatible processor to flash the bios. Other ideas: Try a different processor Try a different power supply Try one memory stick in the left most memory slot when the motherboard is oriented with the rear I/O to the left. Try different memory Disconnect everything but CPU, memory, and power from the motherboard. This includes front panel connectors, and rear i/o including video/keyboard/mouse. Just short the power button pins with a screwdriver. Be sure to connect the 8pin connector for the CPU at the top of the motherboard. Do a CMOS clear Post recovery ideas: https://old.reddit.com/r/DataHoarder/comments/6hgdxv/72tb_of_new_storage_merged_with_36tb_of_existing/

r/techsupport on Reddit: Error codes 64 and 0E (CPU DXE initialization and Microcode not found) on p67 extreme4 gen3 with i5-2400. Is my cpu shot?
December 21, 2022 -

This computer has been running the same hardware for about forever as a workstation for my school 3D Design/printing club. Today, I came in and saw that both monitors were reading the BIOS splash screen with the error code 64 on the mobo. Swapped the ram around, got past 64 and now it hangs up on 0E which, by the manual, says that the microcode is not found. Anyone have an idea how to fix this?

  • Windows 7

  • i5-2400

  • 2x4Gb DDR3-1066

  • 3x250Gb 5400rpm

  • Asus DCU II R9 280

  • ASrock P67 Extreme4 Gen3

  • XFX Pro650w PSU

Edit: Magically went back to 64 aka CPU DXE initialization even with one stick of ram in any slot.

I just finished building my first pc (specs below) and when I went to POST for the first time, the mobo read the error code above. After researching, I was able to find a forum here suggesting that I might have either tightened down my water cooler too much or bent some pins on the cpu/mobo. After checking, it appears that the pins on the cpu/mobo are fine and I have also tried loosening the water cooling, but I’m still running into the issue.

r/buildapc on Reddit: First build: No Screen and Error - pch dxe initialization is started. I need some advice. Thank you!
September 25, 2021 -

Hello guys,

So i decided to try building my first gaming PC with the following components:

- AMD Ryzen 5 5600G 6x 3.90GHz
- Asus ROG Strix B550-E Gaming Motherboard Socket AM4;
- ASUS ROG Strix GeForce RTX 3060 Ti V2 OC;
- Corsair Vengeance LPX 32GB (2 x 16GB) DDR4 3200MHz
- SAMSUNG 970 EVO Plus

So far, it was actually really fun to progress with the setup of all components etc.

However, as I try now to power on my computer, I don't get any screen on my monitor. I've got the error "pch dxe initialization is started" via my MB number screen.

I've reviewed various posts now and some things: starting without GPU, changed both RAM and slots and also tried them separately). I also think, that my MB does support the required bios for CPU. Nevertheless, i could not even try to update bios, since I don't get any display on my monitor screen.

As i don't get anything displayed on my monitor with and without my GPU and by ruling out the possibilities described, I would guess that my CPU might be damaged?

Maybe you guys have some ideas. I would bring my computer to a service shop if nothing will help. However, I would appreciate your help in any case.

Best
