Looking for a new natural gas grill. Am a beginner. Weber is the most expensive but comes with a 10year warranty. Char Broil is in the middle, while Dyna Glo is the most affordable. Can anyone share their experience? TIA

I have a dyna-glo 3 burner, plug right in to my NG lines. I have no complaints on its performance, when the weather is right I beat the hell out of it. The warming tray is starting to flake I don’t use it anyway really. The grates are a little wide and sometimes make chicken cutlets difficult. Maybe it’s because it’s NG but medium heat is difficult to maintain. I usually keep it real low or only use two burners. I would recommend it though. Do not ship to your house if FedEx is used, they destroyed my box and I have some dented pieces. Home Depot took care of me though

Buy within your budget, but if you can afford a Weber, they are worth the money if you are good at caring for your personal belongings. They all do the same job, it is just each one by price is a step up in overall quality.

I just returned that model. It is very cheaply made for the price point. The adjustable coals are only adjustable before you heat up the grill. If you try and move it while cooking the metal is so cheap it will seize up. The coal bed is to far apart so coals will fall through onto the ash tray. The ash tray is to shallow and is such a pain in the but to use. Also the seal is not tight enough to put out the coals so anything you put in will need to be burned right then and there. I was so disappointed in the grill because like you I was seduced by the features.

Main thing of concern here is the seal between the lid and the base. It looks like a standard cheap propane version. Meaning it won't provide a decent seal, you'll lose heat pretty rapidly and lose out on a lot of the convection. I can't tell the gauge of the steel so maybe it's thick stuff and will naturally insulate, but on the pictures it looks like standard cheap-propane grill type lid.

Ok so I've been playing with a smoker box on the gas grill, done some ribs, beef, nothing too adventurous but I enjoy it as it takes time and attention to yield good results. Now I want to graduate to a charcoal smoker but the options are staggering and there is a wide range of quality in the available options. Here are the Smokers I've been considering:
Weber Performer - $349 Walmart.com
Oklahoma Joe's Bronco Drum - $349 The Exchange
Dyna GLO Heavy Duty Barrel Offset - $286 Home Depot (currently out of stock)
These are my top three interests based on reported quality of construction, price, and reported ease of use.
But when making these considerations I keep wondering if I'm getting way ahead of myself and if I should instead start with either one of the following to start with:
Dyna GLO Signature Heavy Duty Vertical Smoker (not the offset) - $174 walmart.com
Dyna GLO 36" Vertical Smoker (charcoal cabinet) - $144 walmart.com
Char Griller 29" Charcoal Grill with side fire box - $217 walmart.com
I recognize these lower cost options have all kinds of construction flaws as compared with the OK Joe or the Weber, however when I read into the reviews and testimonials I see lots of positive feedback which leads me to believe it's a better use of my investment to buy something of this caliber and see how much I really get into the hobby. I can afford to go with something higher end I am just not convinced it's necessary for starting out and would love to hear opinions.

The Dyna GLO verticals are great starter smokers. It's what I first cooked with, and with TLC, and some mods like gaskets, they do a great job. They will help you learn fire management, and you can have a lot of fun cooking on them. If you really get into smoking, you can graduate to a bigger more expensive model down the road. Edit: I've never used a barrel or drum smoker so cant speak to those.

Go with the Weber. You wont regret it. I "replaced" my old Weber with a char griller and my Weber still gets used more. Plus great customer service and warranty. Cant beat it.
