Hi everyone!
I originally contacted Dyson customer service because I wanted to buy an Airwrap in Jasper Plum or Red Velvet, but those colors aren’t available in Canada. During that conversation, the agent mentioned the 20% Owner Discount (Trade-Up Program), which I didn’t know about before. That’s what sparked my curiosity—because if I could get this discount, it would make a huge difference for me.
The thing is: I don’t own a Dyson product yet. But now that I know about this discount, I really want to see if there’s a way I can use it.
I’m from Brazil, where Dyson is not officially sold, and the only way to get an Airwrap is through resellers who charge 2-3 times the original price. Because of currency exchange rates and import taxes, an Airwrap that costs $750 CAD here can easily cost $1,500–$2,000 CAD in Brazil. That’s months of salary for many people, including me.
Right now, I’m on vacation in Canada, and this is probably my only chance to buy an Airwrap at a fair price. That’s why this 20% discount would make a massive difference for me.
👉 Has anyone here managed to use the Owner Discount without owning a previous Dyson? 👉 How does Dyson verify ownership? Do they ask for a serial number? 👉 Would this work if I go to a Dyson Demo Store in person?
For me, this isn’t just a discount—it’s the difference between being able to buy the Airwrap or not. Also, I’m fully aware of the voltage differences between Canada and Brazil, but I live in a 110V region, so I won’t have issues using it.
If anyone has tips, advice, or even a workaround, I’d be incredibly grateful. Thank you so much in advance!
🔥 Update: I Finally Got the Discount – But It Was a Nightmare!
Hey everyone, I wanted to update this post because WOW, what an exhausting experience!
After days of frustration, endless chats, contradicting answers, and terrible customer service, I finally managed to get the 20% Owner Discount on the Airwrap I.D. – but only because Dyson completely messed up my case and, in the end, had no choice but to honor the discount.
💥 Here’s what happened: • At first, Dyson made it seem like using the discount would be easy, but as soon as I tried to apply it, I faced contradictory responses from different agents, robotic scripted messages, and zero consistency in their answers. • I actually had a registered Dyson product in my account – My friend, who lives in Canada, had never registered her Dyson, so she let me register it under my account so I could qualify for the discount. That’s why I went all in and fought for it—I met the conditions and wasn’t doing anything outside of Dyson’s own rules. • Their website kept failing when processing my payment, blocking my credit card with multiple pending transactions. Even the manager at the Dyson store in Calgary (Chinook) told me that TONS of customers are experiencing the same issue, and it’s making their job even harder. • Customer service had no idea what the stores were doing, and the stores had no idea what customer service was doing – it was like talking to two completely separate companies that had no internal communication. • I had to escalate my case multiple times, including reaching out to Dyson’s CMO and executive team just to get a resolution.
📌 The Bottom Line? Yes, I got the discount, but it was NOT worth the stress. What should have been a simple luxury shopping experience turned into days of frustration, lost time, and disappointment.
💡 Advice for Anyone Trying to Get the 20% Discount in Canada: ✅ Be prepared to fight for it. Dyson Canada is NOT consistent with this discount, and some people get it easily while others go through hell. ✅ If you have issues, escalate immediately. The regular chat agents are often useless and just repeat scripted messages. ✅ If buying online, be aware of their broken payment system. Multiple customers (myself included) faced payment failures that blocked their credit cards for days.
🚩 Final Thoughts This experience has completely changed my perception of Dyson as a brand. For a company that sells luxury products, the customer service is shockingly bad. If anyone else is going through this process, I hope my experience helps you prepare for the nightmare ahead.
Would I go through this again? Absolutely not.
Hello,
I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask this question, but I was wondering which is the best deal for the Dyson Airwrap in Canada between Sephora or Shopper's Drug Mart.
I'll save about $60 more if I purchase from Shopper's during the 20x points sale instead of during the 20% off Rouge sale in April. However, is Sephora's return policy more lenient? I think at Sephora you can still return after opening if you don't like it, whereas for Shopper's you can't return once opening. I'm also wondering if it will even be in stock in April at Sephora as I've heard it can be out of stock before the sale even starts.
Is there other information that I'm missing? Are there other better deals out there? Thanks!
