I don't like Air Watts as a rating because it's fuzzy math. It involves power efficiency so a lower powered vacuum with less air flow could get the same Air Watt number as a more powerful vacuum that uses more electricity. I'm not a Dyson expert so I don't know the exact motor specifications but Dyson upright vacuums have a electric powered brushroll which adds to the total power used while Dyson canister vacuums do not have electric powered brushrolls. The canisters only have air-driven turbo brushes so the canisters use less electricity and therefore get a higher Air Watt rating. The other thing is canister vacuums have a longer hose and which usually makes a longer air path so you want a more powerful canister motor to compensate for the longer length the air has to travel. I prefer to look at air flow in CFM and Water Lift. CFM tells how much air is moved and Water Lift describes how powerful the suction is for lifting heavier particles. I opened my Dyson Cinetic Ball Animal today. I wanted to see the filter myself. Support told me to bring it in for service, because they don't deal with these issues over the phone. The symptoms of my Dyson were that dust was coming out the back. Actual dust. I had been putting a large filter fan behind my Dyson as I used it, to catch the dust. Basically using my vacuum was making my house cleaner, but dustier at the same time. When I opened up my Dyson, I found the filter had actual holes in it. I counted eight holes big enough to notice light passing through. One hole was about an inch long. Super disappointed. Purchased 2021, December. Struggled for a year, so I got two good years out of it. Factoring for cost, $790, it cost me $21.90 per month to own a Dyson. Previous vacuum lasted over a decade, Miele, purcased in 2004, September, for $178. Miele cost me $10.50 per year, or 87¢ per month. Let's consider I never bought a filter or a bag from Dyson, but I did for Miele. Let's round off my monthly costs, and say the Dyson cost $20 more per month than a Miele. Miele filters, today, cost $44 for the HEPA, $12 for a three pack of prefilters, and $23 for 4 dustbags. Let's assume I change the HEPA filter once for every three prefilters and every four dustbags. $80 in filters. Okay, now I start to see the savings. $80 in filters works out to the same price every four months, if I change my HEPA three times a year, change my dust bag every month. Here's the kicker though. There is a hidden graph of diminishing quality with the Dyson. At the end of a Dyson's life, the filter is choked and it wasn't doing it's job. At the end of a Miele's life, the motor burned out, but it was vacuuming up every particle of dust to 99.97% efficiency. I could even buy knock-off bags and save money. Yeah the canister alone will be easier for your mom compared to the uprights Dyson makes. I personally went with Dyson cordless vacuums, the v11 specifically, it’s much lighter compared to my Dyson Small Ball Animal. Even the compact upright is heavy for me.

Is your cleaner head a flat head or a rounded in front head with brushes. If it has red and black brushes then it can be used on carpets no issues and hard floors. It’s also normal for it to be harder to push on carpets. Dyson suction is incredible. You just know that you’ll get a good clean with this.

And also you don’t have to worry about cleaning filters anymore as you got the cinetic version too!! Just gotta empty the bin with the point and shoot bin.
