So I've been joggling with the idea of buying my first Dyson hair dryer so I normally did some research and came upon mixed reviews.
Before doing my research I was set on buying myself one for Black Friday but now I'm kinda torn. The general consensus is that the product is good but it stops working at the 2 year mark warranty or before that and give than its not quite cheap not sure if I'm willing to pay 400$ for a product that can stop working any minute plus from what I've read Dyson customer support is horrible.
That's why I'd like to get some opinions from people who owned this product. Thanks in advance ~
Hi everyone, I’m considering getting the Dyson Supersonic hairdryer. Do you think it’s worth it in terms of the quality, cost, performance, etc? Or are there cheaper products on the market that work the same? I mainly want it to reduce the time it takes me to blowout, and diffuse my hair. I’d love to hear positive and/or negative reviews!

Our hair salon has two supersonic R hair dryers and the regular pro ones. The supersonic R’s filters need to be cleaned twice a week or else the hair dryer will not work! I reached out to Dyson and they tell me too bad it’s been over 30 days and I cannot return it. I’ve had the hair dryer for 3 months now and it has been a nightmare for our staff. Imagine working on someone’s hair and it stops working! Unreliable and NOT for professionals! I’m going to put it on eBay and buy paralux hair dryers!
I'm contemplating picking up the Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer during the upcoming sale and would really appreciate some input as to whether it's worth it (even with 15% off - I'm VIB - it's still super spendy). I have fine, very straight hair, but it's full. I keep it shoulder length. I almost always just let my hair air dry, TBH because I hate taking the time to blow it dry (I'm always rushed in the am), and also in the warmer months the heat of the blow dryer just ends up making me sweat. But I would love for my hair to have a more finished look, and my understanding is that the Dyson basically dries fast with low heat, and if that is really the case, it might be the perfect solution for me. Thoughts? TIA!
I was looking to gift the hair dryer for my sister. But I found many hair dryers with similar heat settings and drying functions.
I'm not much into how the hair reacts to heat and the type of airflow the hair needs. So I'm mostly out of my depth here. I tried looking online on how hair dryer affects the hair without much luck. The only thing I found was that high heat was bad for hair proteins.
I'm genuinely curious on a scientific perspective whether it makes a difference or not on what kind of hair dryer you use.
Also I'm posting this here cause no one cared when I posted in other similar subreddits.
I noticed it’s launched in US this week. It’s sleek look is so different to anything on the market, it piqued my interest. I already love the classic SuperSonics drying abilities but can’t find much info in the r. Has anyone got one/tried one? Rate or hate?
I remember years ago (around 2020) Dyson was all the rage in curly hair circles but the price shocked me.
I'm in a position where I can buy one with it's attachments (refurbished/second hand) but I'm unsure if it's worth it. It's still a hefty price in my opinion. I don't mind splurging on tech as long as it's good and worth it.
I don't really use diffusers much but since I moved into a colder country, I'm not a fan of waiting for hours on end for my hair to dry.

I have wavy hair (used to be super thick from nature, but then I moved to another country where water damaged my hair, and now my hair is lighter than used to be).
I want a pretty device and less heat damage for my hair, but I heard that Dyson hair dryer doesn’t last long, is it true?
Also would like to ask about the Dyson air wrap and related products. I would like old Hollywood/Pamela Anderson type of hairstyle, is Dyson good for that? Or should I better get hot rollers?
I am absolutely new to the hairstyle world, because I never ever used any devices like that and was always against the hair dryer. But now I would like to improve my style.
I’m an asian guy with short straight and fine hair so i use my $30 2000w hair dryer daily before styling my hair, otherwise it’ll look flat and messy. So i will definitely use it.
I bought my HD08 Lite (only comes with the smoothing nozzle which is all i need) for the equivalent of 268 USD directly from Dyson via an online shopping platform and it’s arriving tomorrow, but i’m kinda having second thoughts thinking it’ll be a waste of money cuz my hair is short lol. I saw a flash deal and impulse bought it, it’s now back to ~392 USD so i guess it was a great deal 😅.
Any guys with relatively short hair care to share your experiences? Thanks!

i’m trying to plan ahead and figure out if the best dyson supersonic hair dryer black friday deals 2025 are actually worth waiting for. i’ve been holding off buying one and i’m hoping this is the time prices finally drop a bit.
if you’ve followed past sales or know which stores usually come through, where do you think the best shot will be this year? i’m fine grabbing it online or in store.
any tips from people who tracked the deals in previous years?
Is there a difference between the supersonic origin models? Like on Costco they’re listing the fuschia and gray set but everyone else is selling the nickel/copper now. Ulta, Dyson.com, and Best Buy all have the copper version. Are there different generations and if so where do I find that info?
I’ve see a lot of people saying they’re unreliable machines so would like to buy it from Costco, but also don’t want to get one that’s an earlier generation. Any insight?
I got one from Amazon that was the copper version but the box was opened and it didn’t work. Would turn on and shut right back off…. So I think Amazon is out of the question. I’ve also heard of fakes or broken ones being sold at stores so I’ll be checking it no matter what.
Also appreciate general feedback on it! And if you all have other dryer recommendations for thick wavy damaged hair.
Hi all, I'm deciding between the Laifen Swift or Dyson Supersonic. My hair is natural (never colored), fine/thin, 2c type. I was previously using a $24.99 Chi Low EMF hair dryer that I purchased back in 2018! I recently noticed 2 cracks on the exterior so it's time to move on.
I'm looking for something reliable that will last 5+ years. I don't mind maintenance of cleaning filters, etc., just looking for something solid that will be gentle on my hair. I mostly blow out my hair/rough dry with a brush and want to get into diffusing my curls. I've been using the Dyson for about a week and upon first use my hair didn't feel as dried out (parched)/frizzy as what it does with my Chi. I never even knew my hair was looking rough until I tried the Dyson - it made my hair silky smooth and pretty straight even without using a brush.
I also ordered the Laifen which is coming in the mail next week.
Do any of use either blow dryers - what would you recommend? Longevity use, how are they holding up? Other opinions & comments welcome. Thank you!
Really tempted to splurge on this but wondering if it’s really worth the hype. I mostly air dry because lack of time/patience. I’m also concerned with my bleached fine hair looking flat - without blow drying- or when I blow dry looking overly dry and sticking up all day. Any feedback, greatly appreciated!
I don’t mind splurging on things if it means a high quality, lasting product. But I also don’t trust Sephora product reviews since most are paid for. Does anyone have one and find it totally worth it? Is it really that different compared to a $60 one with heat protection?
I have seen plenty of comments on previous posts recommending Dyson hair dryers.
There seems to be a huge variation in price between different models ( the only difference I can see on some is that they are a different colour). The pictures above are two which I can actually see some difference in. They are about $200 difference in price. Is the new diffuser style better on the blue one? I can justify the price of the copper one but not sure about the blue.
The shark is about $150 cheaper than the cheapest dyson (which also seems to be a common recommendation).
(routine - word needed to let me post with a picture)
Is there a difference? its on sale on dyson website, one is 449, other 569...
I own a hair salon in Miami Florida and we bought the Dyson R right when it launched in the USA. We bought only 1 to make sure we like it before we buy 10 makes sense right? Anyway we have a couple of the Dyson Pro hair dryers the silver ones with the longer cord and it has been for the most part a good tool for us so we figured the Dyson R will be way better.
The first 2 weeks of owning it the hair dryer was great! It’s super light and decently powerful (not as powerful or hot like our paralux) and it’s super quiet! Using it all day long helps with shoulder aches and that’s huge of course! After 2 weeks the hair dryer started blinking asking us to clean the filter and that’s fine we did that by following the video on dysons website. Dyson recommends cleaning the filter once per month yet our filter asked to be cleaned in 2 weeks.
Anyways! When the filter light comes on you have no choice but to clean the filter the hair dryer WILL NOT WORK unless the computer feels the filter is clean enough. Mind you we have air filters all over our salon Dyson air purifiers that filter formaldehyde and air in general and those tell us the air quality is good.
We do our first cleaning and a few days go by we get another filter cleaning light! We clean the filter again and same thing happens a few days later. Now these filters look brand new because they are but for some reason the computer/sensor inside the dryer thinks the filter is clogged.
Now I wish I could just go to dysons website and buy their overpriced filters but they have been out of stock for months now. So now I have a $500 paperweight laying around of no use to me. When I ask Dyson about it they give me the run around “are you sure sure you cleaned the filter good?” Dyson as a company has gone down hill significantly! I am shocked that a high end brand can fall to such low levels and provide absolutely NOOOO support?! Now guys we are extremely busy individuals we have busy days and we have no time for these games and neither do our clients. I highly recommend that nobody guys these hair dryers. There are many true professional options out there and I mentioned paralux which has never ever failed us. There is too much tech in these hair dryers which make them unusable!
Hi There, I’ve been going back and forth between the two. I’m 60 years old with minimal styling expertise, my hair is very fine, after reading the reviews I’m worried the air wrap may be out of my league, originally I just wanted the dryer but my searches also came up with the airwrap, how does the drying feature work on the airwrap compared to hair dryer. Looking for best bang for my buck and suggestions.
I've had my refurbished Dyson supersonic hair dryer since the end of 2019 (which is a record for any hair dryer I've owned) and it's starting to crap out a bit.
My husband and I use it everyday and I clean the filter regularly. I also store it in a big drawer with my flat iron so there's plenty of room. I do not wrap the cord tightly and just gently gather it together.
I noticed the cord, where it meets the adapter, is getting wonky and slightly bulge-y and it's starting to not always turn on unless I have the cord at a specific angle, so something is getting loose. The part where it's connected to the adapter is also starting to get hotter than it probably should. I'm way out of warranty and already contacted customer service at Dyson (which btw, is horrible).
The customer service chat person said they can send me a free shipping label to ship it to their Calgary service center for the people to look at to see if it can be fixed. They can't tell me the repair cost until i ship the dryer and IF i do decide to fix it, I have to pay to ship it back to BC... shipping in Canada is a lot plus I don't even know if they can fix it when it's only semi-dying, so I'm likely not going with the service center option. It still works as long as I have the cord at the right angle.
I also called the Vancouver store to see if they could give me a ballpark estimate of the cost, but they didn't know. It also couldn't google an average cost to fix the hair dryer either.
I've been doing lots of internet searching to figure out if it's worth getting a replacement and it seems like many people that have purchased a Dyson in the last 1-3 years say it craps out relatively quickly. I'm onboard to purchase a refurbished one again, the only downside is there's no refund, but there is a 1 year warranty.
How long have you had your Dyson?
If you purchased a refurbished one, when did you get it and how's it going for you?
Do you also use it on the daily?
In general, how's it doing? Yes/no issues?
If you did send your Dyson to repair the loose cord, how much did it cost? If your Dyson still going strong?
