My girlfriend and I are moving in together into a 1 bed apartment with hardwood floors and some rugs. She had a cat which sheds a decent amount.
My gf really wants to buy this Dyson which is available from Costco for about $400. Is this a good buy? My last vacuum cleaner was $15 from the thrift store and I have no knowledge of good vacuum cleaners. I'm willing to spend money for quality but $400 is a lot of money and I want to make sure we're making the right purchase. Thanks!

$400 is steep, this model was launched in 2018 and really should be cheaper by now IMO. Also, cordless vacuums generally only last 3 to 5 years. If you're ok with dropping that kind of money for that kind of lifespan, it's not a bad performer. Alternatives I'd look for would be a miele duoflex or triflex. And ideally you'd have a solid corded vac in the side for deeper cleaning/when this breaks.

Needing a new vacuum and have been wanting something like this for awhile. We have 2 dogs, so I was thinking this could be perfect. Since it’s on sale until 10/22 I was wondering if I should just get it. Regular price $499, on sale for $399. Anyone with this vacuum have pros or cons they could share?

I bought this vacuum around 6 months ago. It is the best vacuum I have experienced. I have dogs that shed a lot, and it picks up the hair very well. I love the portability. The canister has to be emptied pretty frequently, but to me that is a fair tradeoff for not having to deal with a cord. It's much easier for me to more frequently vacuum a smaller mess versus a large mess infrequently.

I think Dyson vacuums are great. Many family members and friends use them as well, and they've been happy with the. Especially the attachment for upholstery if you pets. The battery dies very quickly if you use the top sled (there are three, I use the top for couch, thick carpets, etc). I bought this vacuum on sale at Costco too a couple years back. I haven't done the research, but if I were I would look at the specs of the new models and see if it's worth buying the old model (it may be if the additions are cosmetic, etc).
