So I've been looking for a vacuum cleaner forever since I've been using a cheap stick that's meant for detailing and has a tiny intake (cleaning carpets is awful with it lol). I ended up buying the V11 Origin on Amazon, which looked to be the only V11 model available. After trying to look at reviews online, I've seen that there are a few different names -- Torque Drive, Origin, Absolute, etc.
It's a bit difficult to find an appropriate review when there are lots of different model names. If it matters, I'm in Canada.
I originally bought the V11 Extra, but ended up returning it when it didn’t come with the LCD like advertised. Now I’m currently deciding between the V11 and V11 Origin, but I’m unsure of what the difference is between them. Does anyone know? Thanks!

Both are on sale at the moment. I believe the origin is a Best Buy exclusive and comes with a removable battery. It’s very similar to the animal, but with less attachments (only the high torque cleaning head, crevice tool and combo tool). It’s currently going for $450. The V10 is on sale at Dyson for $400. Comes with a ton of attachments.
I have a mix of hard tile floors and large area rugs. I live in a small 1 bedroom apartment so it’s not like I need a ton of battery life. I do tend to have long cleaning sessions, however. Is the extra $50 worth the additional power and foregoing all the attachments including the fluffy head? Right now, the extra power and the click in battery seem nice, but I really like the attachments on the V10 especially the fluffy head since I have a lot of hard floors. Seems like a removable battery would make the unit’s life time last longer though.
Both are similarly priced. But the v11 doesn't come with the fluffy head. Which should I go for ? Does the torque head not scratch hard wood floors ?
I’ve had my Dyson V11 for just over year now and I can honestly say as hard as I try to like it I’ve been disappointed from day one. Got it as an Xmas gift and was really happy but I’ve found it becomes blocked to the point of not working pretty much every time I use it, I can’t use the highest setting on it, the regular setting is very weak, it spits half of what you have hoovered up out as soon as you turn it off and I’m having to constantly clear its airways out. I have a dog and a cat but have always hoovered daily so there is no crazy build up of hair that should be causing the hoover to struggle yet it just doesn’t seem to perform! Anyone else found these problems with this model?
Hello! I'm looking to get a Dyson V11, but there's quite a variety of models and naming for this vacuum. I've seen V11 Absolute Pro, Animal, Torque, Outside, and then V11h and V11b. I was wondering what the difference is for all of these?
Past that, is it easy to replace the battery? Some models seem to have a quick release battery, while others require multiple screws to be removed.
Hello! Me and my partner are looking into buying a Dyson Vertical Vacuum, but we are a little confused with all the different versions and what not, so we are looking for some help.
We have a 3 story house, mostly with hardwood flooring, with tiles on the kitchen and on the 3 bathrooms. We also have pets (cats) and no kids.
We were looking at the Dyson v8 Absolute and Origin and at the Dyson V11 Absolute and Fluffly, but we are havimg an hard time understanding what would be the best for us (I think the more I read, the more confused i get ahah)
Also, we are from Portugal, so, some of the models do not exist here, that is why we were looking into those I mentioned before.
Any help would be appreciated!!
EDIT: in terms of the V11, the V11 Fluffy is 480 euros and the V11 Absolute is 600 euros. The attachments that come with each one are a little bit different. Is the 120 euros difference worth it? Will we miss out on something if we go with the fluffy kit?
Whats the difference between both? I do not see any difference in accesories or the device itself. It only has a price difference. So why should i buy the advanced then?

Hello,
since my Dreame vacuum is slowly dying, I need a replacement and while I was always a bit sceptical about Dyson, my gf's family always happily had ones so I'm willing to give them a try.
At my local store, they have the following three models all for the same price: 399€
I have no idea about the models and especially about the suffixes (which seem to make a huge difference), so it would be really nice if you could guide me a bit.
V10 Absolute (instead of 599€)
V11 Fluffy (instead of 599€)
V12 Origin (instead of 499€)
I thought that those would be the best options since they are mid-range, but if you would say that other options are better, there would also be the V8 Advanced for 299€ or the V12 Detect Slim for 499€.
Thanks!
I bought the V12 Origin (or V12 Detect Origin as it is called on Dysons website) during black Friday after watching multiple reviews of dyson vacuums.
I have not recieved it yet but after some more research it yet but it seems like it is a totally different model than the V12 Slim Detect even though it is called V12 and has detect in the name on the official Swedish website.
I thought at first that it was only missing the laser thing but all other features were the same. But it seems to have less suction power and not have the detect features (why is it then called detect on the website but not on the box?).
But the strangest thing is that there are literally no reviews of the product online except for some Singaporean unboxing videos on youtube. Dyson has no good information about it and it seems to be a product made simply to fool people in to buying an inferior product that has a similar enough name to a better product or something like that.
Does anyone have any experience with this product or is it simply a shitty “black Friday” version of the real deal?
Probably a dumb question. Purchased a Dyson V11 (Origin) and the suction is too much on carpets, even on Eco, to the point that the brush stops spinning and it physically lifts the carpet off the floor. The rug is pretty thick, but the vacuum does this on any carpet of any thickness in our home—even relatively thin mud mats. Our old Dyson had an adjustable slider on the head. I’ve seen pictures of older versions of this head that have a slider but this one does not. Is there any way to adjust these?
This vacuum is honestly amazing, the suction power is incredible and it does a great job at getting dirt out of my carpets, before this I thought my carpets were clean, but now after using this I’ll never look at them the same again.
Hi all!
I am a bit confused about the differences between all 4 of the dyson V11 models listed on their website:
Shop Dyson V11™ cordless vacuum cleaners | Dyson (dysoncanada.ca)
I understand they all come with different tools, which is explicit enough in their description, and that the Outsize model has bigger bin, comes with two batteries and has a bigger motor head.
Where I start being confused is if there are other differences between all these models? Such as:
- Is the LCD display the same on all 4 models?
- What is the difference between the Nickel and Gold Torque Drive?
- Do they all have a detachable battery? I know only the Outsize model comes with a second one, but are all other models easily detachable if I were to buy a second one myself?
- Is there any differences aside from the tools that come with each model?
Thank you for your help!
I feel so stuck between the V10 and V11. I’ve never owned a Dyson before, let alone a cordless vacuum, so I have so many questions about which would be a better fit for our place. Here is our situation:
-
We have a 2,800 sq foot home - Four bedrooms on two floors
-
The entire first floor is hardwood, although maybe 15% of it has area rugs
-
70% of the second floor is carpeted
Given the size of our home, I’m thinking battery life may be the most significant issue. That makes me want to lean toward the newer models (V11). Going further, I’m wondering whether the Outsize models may be the best choice, having the ability to swap out a battery to lengthen vacuum sessions. I’m fine with getting the Outsize Origin and then buying another battery if I find one is not enough. Just having that ability to swap, though, seems huge. It’s definitely more convenience (and a 1st world problem) than anything.
I’ve also been weighing the V10 Absolute. Although it has the shorter battery life, it comes with the soft roller head (which seems to be a real difference maker for hardwood floors) and is a bit lighter. Then, of course, it is priced lower as well. With the Black Friday sales, there is about a $200 difference between these two models ($400 for the V10 and $600 for the V11).
If I decide to go with the V11, add on another battery, AND add the soft roller head, we’re looking at about a $400 price difference. Yes, it’s an obscene amount of money, but there’s also dramatically better battery life (with the two swappable batteries).
For those of you with one or the other (or both), any recommendations here? The real answer may be to simply try it out and see how it works out. I’m curious if some of you, especially those with larger homes, have any thoughts that can help guide me here! Or if you have recommendations for any of the other ones, I’d be glad to hear it. Thank you for reading my novel and I appreciate any advice :)
I want to buy a stick vacuum and I can get a dyson V8 for 229 pounds or the V11 for 370. I live in a one story flat that is mostly carpet, relatively small (two rooms, plus kitchen and bathroom)
My boyfriend lives in a two story house which is a bit bigger, but also mostly carpet and plans to buy one as well.
Recommendations on which?
Canadian Tire has the V8 for $600 but you get $150 in Canadian tire money or the V11 for $600. From what I can see the V11 comes with one extra attachment which is the combination tool.
Our house is 50/50 hardwood and carpet but the hardwood sees more traffic and needs cleaning more often. And we have a dog.
Is the $150 difference worth going for the V11? I don’t think we will have issues with battery life in either but I do think the design of the V11 canister is nice. Seems easier to dump?
Thanks
Hi,
I just ended up ordering two Dyson V11s this weekend, the V11 Core from Best Buy ($350) and then while I was on the Dyson website I noticed they were selling the V11 Extra ($350), so I ordered that with plans to return the Best Buy purchase.
I’m finding it hard to find any comparisons between the two - from what I can see the only difference is that the Extra is newer and has an LED instead of LCD screen, and that the Extra comes with more attachments.
Any other differences I should look into/be aware of?
Thanks in advance for any insight.
Does anybody have experience with the v8 versus the V11 tick vacuum? Would you say it was worth $150 difference?
