FWIW, I noticed this morning that Walmart is also selling the V15 for $499. And, they've again lowered their price on the V12 Detect Slim to $399. Walmart also offers free shipping (whereas Costco charged me a $9.99 shipping fee). The good thing about buying from either Costco of Walmart is that you don't get hassled if you need to return a product because it's not working right or you don't like it. Working with Dyson support can often be like riding a merry-go-round.

I plan on pulling the cord and getting my first Dyson vacuum this sale. I’ve narrowed it down to the v15 and v12 sold by Costco (so I have access to the flexible return policy if all goes awry), but the biggest factor holding me back from the v15 is the weight difference.
My understanding is v15 is more powerful, slightly better battery life and bin capacity, and comes with more attachments. However, v15 is around 15lbs and the v12 is around 5lbs.
In Canada, v15 is on sale for $780 and v12 for $675 so not a huge difference.
I live in a ranch-style house with a carpet upstairs, carpet stairs, and hard floors for the foyer and downstairs (with a rug here and there) so it’s pretty 50/50. I will also be using a central vacuum, and emptying the bin more isn’t a huge deal to me.
Which did you pick and why? Did the weight of the v15 keep you back? Is one more reliable than the other? Is it even worth going for the v15?

Costco's v15 because Costco's return policy is 10000x better than Dyson customer support. If anything ever goes wrong (it happens all the time), you can just take it back to costco, no box needed, and they will take it back no questions asked and you can pick up a brand new one off the rack. Dyson on the other hand will make you jump though hoops and perform a song and dance to get any resolution. I know from personal experience this is not just hearsay.

I just bought a V15 last week and I’m returning it today. It stopped working after I charged it the first time. Not even a full 24 hours. Spoke with Dyson support, they gave me the basic troubleshooting steps (turn off, unplug battery, etc), but apparently there’s no way to hard reset it. Their only solution was to drive an hour away to one of their locations lol, nah I’m good, if I’m paying that much I expect it to work for more than one use and get better service.

Comments going back and forth when the real win here is COSTCO. majority of the negative Dyson comments are on longevity. Me personally my two Dysons are rock solid. However, Costco’s lifetime return nullify that risk, just keep the box/receipt and you should be good to go.

Prices are all over the place this year. I tried the Shark PowerDetect Cordless Stick Vacuum and the auto suction change saved me from messing with buttons. It can feel nice when the vacuum figures things out on its own.

.99 doesn’t mean anything. Everything they have normally priced is .99. This is just a normal sale. This particular model will be no cheaper on black Friday than the normal sale price. .97 prices are the special clearance prices.

I'm looking to buy the Dyson V15 which is currently on sale here in Canada. But the names of the models and what's included is driving me insane. I'm just looking at getting the best with the money spent and more accessories would be great as well since we have a newborn at home and looking to vacuum possibly everything as it can get dusty where I live. Dyson V15 Detect Plus has 2 powerheads, crevice tool, mini dusting brush, and hair screw tool. Dyson V15 Detect has 2 powerheads, crevice tool, combo tool, and hair screw tool. Dyson V15 Detect Total Clean Extra has 2 powerheads, crevice tool, combo tool, mini dusting brush, hair screw tool. Additionally it has a stubborn dirt brush, mattress tool, up top adapter, and flexi crevice tool. That makes #3 the easy choice especially if you already have a Costco membership. A few tips: The Dyson V10-V15 are quite bulky and can get heavy in the hand. If you want a lighter weight check out the V8 and V12 Detect Slim. I don't like to use the tools for too long because holding a cordless vacuum for dusting is heavy and bulky, so you might want to get a canister vacuum if you like to do a lot of furniture and upholster cleaning. A canister's hose and tools are much lighter and more maneuverable. If you have carpets or large rugs you'll want to have a corded vacuum with a carpet powerhead/brushroll for weekly deep cleaning, cordless vacuums are good for daily cleaning but still don't have the suction power, move the air volume, and agitate the carpet well enough to fully replace corded vacuums. The Dyson V15 has the suction power but not the air volume or carpet agitation. Hope that helps.

Go with the costco version. Dyson warranty is only 2 years and Costco has a better return policy.
