What do the alerts mean on my Dyson V15 Detect?
Why does my Dyson V15 Detect have no power or not turn on?
Why is my Dyson V15 Detect losing battery quickly? Is it not charging?
I’ve owned many mid to high end brand of vacuums from Hoover, shark, rainbow etc and the Dyson V15 made me enjoy cleaning again, the laser really does detect any dirt or hair that is hanging around …..my only issue is for the price the battery should last way longer and I also bought a used one for 50$ that was labeled non working and all that was wrong with it , was it had a pretty big hair clog in it!!!! #review
Edit in case anybody is following this:
I gave up. Took it back to Best Buy, then went to the Dyson store in town. The guy there said he'd seen a handful of this same issue, but never this many times in a row. He also said he thinks they fixed it with the new batch. So we bought one of the new batch, took it home, and the exact same thing happened.
I'm done with Dyson.
It's too bad because it's a great machine, but enough is enough. The support process has been entirely unhelpful, they have yet to admit there's an issue on their end or supply anything more helpful than "try a new battery?", and I have no faith that even if I got one that lasted more than a couple of days that it wouldn't crap out in a month or two.
Original post follows:
Hello Dyson folks
I've been having the same issue with 5 brand new V15s in a row now. Each time it works great at first, then within a day the particle counter (and therefore the auto mode w/ soft brush head) stops working. I return it for a new one, only to experience the same thing. This times 5. Dyson support hasn't been helpful at all. At this point I think I'm just looking for reassurance that other people are seeing this same problem because I find it tough to believe I've had 5 lemons in a row? Or maybe there's something super obvious I'm missing?
More detailed info:
-Brand new Dyson V15 Detect bought in Dec 2022 from Best Buy in Calgary, Canada. Love the machine, works great, lasers are cool, my floors are covered in cat.
-Have followed all enclosed instructions - charging the battery to 100% before first use
-Each time, within a few uses, the particle counter disappears from the LCD screen. "Auto" is no longer an option.
-I've been through the menu. On the particle counter on/off screen, it will say particle counter: off. I've tried to re-enable the particle counter (following support steps). Each time I do this, the screen shows the green check mark with "particle counter on" for a second, then returns to the "on/off" selection menu with the status as "particle counter: off".
-Have returned to the store and swapped for a new one 5 times, and each time the same thing has happened
-Have spoken to Dyson support numerous times. Online and on the phone.
-Support (eventually) suggested it was a battery issue. Which seemed unlikely but I'm not a vacuumologist so sure, let's try it. Got a new battery.
-New battery didn't change a thing. Maybe I should be a vacuumologist?
-Now the suggestion is to ship is out for a new handset. But what's the point if it's just going to do the same thing again?
....is anybody out there able to help, or at least help me feel less like a crazy person? 99% of reviews for this machine are super positive, how have I had 5 broken machines in a row?!
Thanks in advance
I am returning my second Dyson vacuum in a matter of 2 weeks. The detect feature of the v15 is very cool and I found it useful. I also like the design of the Dyson cordless options and the customer support was adequate enough. I'm sad to say that I don't want to give them another chance given the issues we had.
The first vacuum we received had an issue where it alerted me that I needed to clean the filter. This was 10 minutes after opening it and testing it out. Research showed that this was an issue with other users.
The replacement we received a couple weeks later had an issue where the carpet attachment roller did not roll when triggered, right out of the box.
For a vacuum that cost us over $800, my expectations are higher than the experience we had. I can only imagine what issues we would have if we kept it for an extended period of time.
I was vacuuming my apartment and my v15 randomly stopped working. When pressing the trigger, nothing happens. The LCD is responsive but the unit itself doesn’t respond. My puppy and I are so sad!!
