Hei, just planning on buying this combined vacuum+washer. Does that ACTUALLY work? Thanks for sharing your opinions
My partner and I are choosing between these two vacuum sets. The price difference is quite minimal (~5%) due to Black Friday deals.
We would love some advice on which one to choose given the V15s has a hard floor washing head too.
| Model | Price |
|---|---|
| V15s Submarine Complete Vacuum (gold HEPA edition) | $999 |
| Gen5Detect Complete Vacuum (Prussian blue and rich copper edition) | $1049 |
Below are a comparison of what comes in the package:
V15s Submarine Complete Vacuum (gold HEPA edition) Gen5Detect Complete Vacuum (Prussian blue and rich copper edition)Based on what I can see, there is a around a 5% price difference between these two but the v15s has a wet roller head option.
Gen5Detect is the newest model with no wet roller head.
What's your advice and what would you choose?
Any feedback on your experience with these two models is appreciated too.

I’m thinking about finally getting a Dyson, and was thinking about the V15S détect submarine absolute, as it is on sale for 999CAD from 1199CAD.
My thought was that I could replace my spin mop, dustbuster, and regular vacuum. I have a fairly small amount of equal amounts of moppable flooring/non-moppable laminate/carpet.
Stairs are a problem - I have numerous pets who shed silky hair on the stairs. The dustbuster is useless and my vacuum is cumbersome and only marginally effective, and I don’t vac as often as I should because it is a two-person job.
Is there a lot of power as a handheld item? I was hoping that if it has enough power I could use it that way on the stairs, and vacuum daily.
Hi guys, Dyson seem to be having Black Friday discounts on V15 and V15s Submarine here in Australia and they are both the same price after the discount! I've been waiting for Black Friday sales to buy a vacuum under A$1000 and these two are A$999 right now.
Other than the submarine (wet mopping) part of it, are there any other benefits in V15s submarine over regular V15 detect? Which one would you get if the submarine part wasn't really a deal breaker?
I’m looking for some advice on choosing between the Dyson Gen5detect and the Dyson V15 Detect Submarine. My Gen5detect was broken in a freak accident, and my insurance company has given me a voucher to replace it. I loved the Gen5detect and had no complaints, but now I’m tempted by the V15 Detect Submarine.
For context, my home has a mix of carpet and tile: • Carpeted Areas: Stairs, upper hallway, lounge, and three bedrooms. • Tiled Areas: Large kitchen-diner, lower entrance, downstairs toilet, and two upstairs bathrooms.
I’ve read that the Gen5detect has stronger suction (280 AW vs. 240 AW on the V15), which would be great for my carpets. But the V15 Submarine has a wet roller head, which seems ideal for cleaning and mopping the tiled areas in one go.
If anyone has experience with either or both of these models, I’d love to hear your thoughts! • Is the 40 AW suction difference noticeable in real-world use? • How effective is the Submarine’s mopping feature? • Which would you recommend for a home with my layout?
Or would you suggest something else completely? I’m based in the UK and have a Argos voucher for £650.00 for the insurers.
Thanks in advance for your input!
I recently moved into my new house, and one of the things I haven't bought yet is a good vacuum cleaner. I have been looking into both the Dyson V15 Detect Submarine and the Shark Hydrovac, but I don't know much about which one is better. From the price, I can expect the Dyson to be much better, but I just don't know if the brand is just overhyped.
I'm not really sure about the vacuum cleaner + mop thing, I think it could be very convenient, but maybe someone here knows they're not worth it at all and suggest me to go to a regular vacuum and forget about the mop thing (which would also be okay).
One thing I like about the shark (apart from the huge price tag difference) is that there is a corded version: I'm not a big fan of having to charge the battery every time, and my house is big enough to not be able to clean it all in one single charge.
Any suggestions on whether the mop thing is a good idea? Maybe an alternative option that I haven't considered? Thanks a lot!
Note: Whilst I don't mind it to be corded, I draw a line to the "sled vacuums". Unless it's THE ONE vacuum I will ever need and want which happens to be a sled one, I'd rather it be handheld.
Hello! The title says it all. This is my first time buying a Dyson vacuum cleaner and I want to make the best decision. Thank you!!
I'm looking for a honest review on this. The 1299 comes with all 3 heads and i know the other ones are pretty sweet. But i don't know anyone who has the wet mop.
As you know, the V15s can’t officially be retrofitted to a standard V15.
Let me rephrase it better: a 799€ vacuum cannot use a 150€ accessory that is fitted to the very same vacuum with an S at the end and with the same price and functionality.
This due to two options, and whatever the answer, they’re both awful for customers and for a company like Dyson:
they don’t want to
they can’t due to a FW update issue
Now the first one, although understandable, is a complete lack of respect towards customers. We’re talking people that invested good money on what is supposed to be the best product on the market and I give them credit for that, is a great product, but being screwed over like this is something I wouldn’t expect to be honest. Especially because I, like many other people, would have been interested in purchasing that accessory, even with a higher price. But being cut out like this, with the very same model? That is not how you do it. They could have opted for an adapter if they really wanted to, is not like it’s magic or something, where there is a will there is a way and yet they didn’t.
Let’s move to the second option, which isn’t better. This means a fundamental lack of foresight/planned obsolescence. Again, on a 799€ model which was supposed to be the top of the line not that long ago. The V15 is not even 3 years old and Bluetooth, USB and Wi-Fi weren’t exactly new in 2021.
As a customer, I’m disappointed and pissed about this situation because I genuinely feel like I’ve been scammed. Don’t get me wrong, I love the product and what it does, but I don’t like the fact that the very same product can do other stuff that mine can’t just because one of those reasons I mentioned above. In general, I prefer to buy good products, top of the line precisely because of that, precisely because I don’t want to be cut off for upgrades, and I want support. I got none of it.
I wouldn’t had any issue whatsoever if they had this feature on a different model, like a hypothetical V16 or something, it would have been annoying for sure, but I would have understood that from a company perspective, but not like this.
There’s still time, admitting to be wrong and going back on their steps would be highly appreciated by their customers.
Getting my first dyson vacuum and can’t decide between the two. Haven’t really seen any good reviews of the submarine either so I have no clue if it’s worth it. The price of these vacuums is almost the same where I live, submarine is 70€ more expensive..
Or is it just a completely different vacuum that only works with the v15 submarine? Can you buy the attachment?
If it doesn’t attach, do you guys have alternatives for a wet mop attachment?
First time Dyson buyer here and feeling a bit lost between paid promotions on TikTok and Youtube. Planning to buy a Dyson to make cleaning easier at home.
Price difference between these are not huge where I live, want to buy something that I can use for next few years. My apartment is 74 square meter so probably it'd be easier to finish whole thing in one go. I'd like to vacuum and mop at the same time but V15 Submarine reviews are not that great from what I've seen.
What would you choose in that case?
I bought a V15 detect absolute a few years ago when it first came out and I love it. The only missing feature is a wet mop. Now that Dyson introduced a mop attachment for the V15, I thought I could just buy the attachment and be satisfied. But no, Dyson won't sell it separately, and my V15 is older and the software is not compatible. Dyson could've just release a firmware update and let customers come to their service center, but god forbid that. I will have to buy the new V15.
So I bought a new Roborock vacuum robot and it does a fantastic job at vacuuming and mopping. Dyson could've lock me in the Dyson ecosystem, but they just have to milk a few extra hundred dollars from their customers. And now, I will never buy another Dyson product, because there is no need to. Fuck you Dyson
Have any of you got it yet? What are your thoughts? I think it would really suit what i need it for. House is all hard tile and have messy pets but want to make sure it is worth the £800…
Sometimes i get nervous also buying the first new tech companies bring out and i think this is dysons first vaccume that can wet clean floors? (It is has a different head for that). Not owned a Dyson since the 00s and they never lasted long but I used one a friend had recently and i feel they are better and SO light compared to Sharks.
I'm having trouble reattaching the 'Anti-tangle Screw' accessory. It doesn’t seem to mount properly. Can anyone help?
I saw a product video of the dyson v15 s detect submarine absolute and thought about buying it. But i dont find it on the internet. Just the normal version.
Isnt it for sale yet?
