My partner and I are choosing between these two vacuum sets. The price difference is quite minimal (~5%) due to Black Friday deals.
We would love some advice on which one to choose given the V15s has a hard floor washing head too.

V15s Submarine Complete Vacuum (gold HEPA edition) Gen5Detect Complete Vacuum (Prussian blue and rich copper edition)Based on what I can see, there is a around a 5% price difference between these two but the v15s has a wet roller head option.
Gen5Detect is the newest model with no wet roller head.
What's your advice and what would you choose?

If you have hard floors / tile that you Swiffer or mop ( or If you have aspirations of doing so ) then having the option to clean the floors with the submarine head essentially doubles the utility of your vacuum. I clean the floors weekly with my v15. My floor plan is ~1300 sq feet fifty-fifty carpet and hard flooring. I’m able to dust, vacuum, and mop the whole floorplan on one charge in around 20 minutes. I empty the vacuum once, add a bit more water, and dump the water from the catch basin. The Gen5 has a more powerful motor , has a larger dust bin and is heavier. The button on top does help out. Though you’re probably sacrificing a bit of battery life since It’s more likely the vacuum will be left running when moving between rooms or other times where your finger would be off the trigger. Though both vacuums will tire your wrist and you will end up switching arms once or twice. That’s the bigger ergonomic problem. The extra dusting brush, gap tool, and extension hose that come with the Gen5 look really useful( especially the hose) but can be purchased after the fact for the v15, while it’s not possible to use the submarine attachment on the Gen5. I borrowed a friend’s Gen5 before deciding on getting my v15. I got the v15 on the hope that I would use the mopping attachment frequently which thankfully I was able to build the habit to use. I have high pile carpet and rugs, so for both the Gen5 and v15 I had to vacuum those with the gates fully open and ensure I don’t press the head down too forcefully otherwise the brush motor stalled. The Gen5 did this more often than the v15, which I would attribute to the added power. I’m still shocked by the amount of dust picked up each week haha. Ultimately you are getting a good vacuum and pretty house toy either way, enjoy your selection!

The Dyson v15 is great :) But the washing head is not what you probably think it is . The head is mainly designed to clean up liquids, it’s annoying having to pick the crumbs and hair of the brush bar constantly on the wet head . The V15 also has a trigger you have to constantly hold The Gen 5 has a built in crevice tool which is great and a little better battery life . The Gen 5 has no trigger but only a button to click on then click off Both great vacuums but I’ll go for the Gen 5. Good luck and happy Vacuuming Edit - the newer V15 do have built in crevice tools

I like it. It won’t really scrub hard so don’t expect it to remove really old dried on stains/messes. I use it like a swiffer, just to maintain the cleanliness. It uses very little water and you go through so much less cleaner. I add a little Mr clean antibacterial floor solution.

December 27, 2023 - Got mine today (Oct 24), was either the submarine or the laser attachment, wish I went with the latter. It doesn’t use suction whatsoever. Ok for daily mop of a small area such as the kitchen, but takes ages. Certainly does not replace mopping. I have a feeling it’s intended to pick up small spills (juice, milk, etc). V15 vac itself is great.

Hi guys, Dyson seem to be having Black Friday discounts on V15 and V15s Submarine here in Australia and they are both the same price after the discount! I've been waiting for Black Friday sales to buy a vacuum under A$1000 and these two are A$999 right now.
Other than the submarine (wet mopping) part of it, are there any other benefits in V15s submarine over regular V15 detect? Which one would you get if the submarine part wasn't really a deal breaker?

Get the plain v15 and use the savings for a hoover floormate deluxe . Don't buy an all in one when a cheap dedicated does a 3x better job. The submarine seems like a cheap stab at the iRobot SCOOBA. The floormate is cheaper than the submarine head and the water capacity is like 10x and it actually has suction. Floors are basically sock dry a couple minutes after hoovering and it can handle big messes. Same thing goes for combo microwaves. Just get a cheap microwave and a cheap toaster oven.
