Dyson's V15s model is complete garbage and they are nightmare to deal with. My retailer agreed to a late return, what do I buy next?
Dyson V15 is actually a V15s but software prevents it
V15s should have a recall
I’ve seen a fair few people having issues with the filter constantly demanding to be washed. Is your filter the blue coloured one by any chance? The purple one doesn’t seem to have this issue.
Defo think their quality control has gone downhill lately, the hair screw tool was faulty on the first V15 I brought and wand connection was super loose on 2nd unit.
They do last from experience when you get a good one. My V6 and Hot & Cool fan are both 6 years old and still working.

TL;DR: I am disappointed by my Dyson, their support jerks me around, I'm returning the vacuum, and now have a $1,000 budget and am in search of a similar vacuum. Preferences and criteria at bottom of post.
I will give Dyson credit that the Vacuum is fairly versatile, and the laser head for seeing dust is cool, but that's about the only nice things I can say about it.
I bought their V15s in June this year. Within about 3-5 uses, charging after each, the charger stopped working. Acceptable.
I contacted Dyson and they said I needed to register an account to claim warranty, which is obviously false, as the type of warranty offered must be conditionless in the region I live in. I argued with the rep over this, threatening to simply return it and buy another and they agreed to replace my broken charger without forcing me to jump through hoops I shouldn't have to. Annoying, but that's 2024 for ya.
Today, I noticed the felt sliders on the bottom of one of the attachments were starting to peel off. I use this head in exactly one particular place in my house, and I have used it less than 10 times total. Quite disappointing that it is falling apart so early.
I contacted Dyson again and after giving them the serial number they told me they need my account information that the vacuum is registered to. I never made an account. I punched my email into the account recovery and got no recovery email. I searched all my email accounts for Dyson emails and only found ones from the original retailer relating to the purchase. I can't give them information I don't have.
The rep insisted that I do have this information no matter how many times I insisted otherwise. We were getting nowhere so I eventually told him to fuck off (not literally).
I told my retailer that somebody else had already registered my vacuum's serial number and that Dyson was stonewalling me and they agreed to a return & refund. Awesome.
I did communicate further with a Dyson rep and they suggested that somebody internal at Dyson could have registered it under their own name during my initial warranty request. Annoying, weird, and at this point I don't care anymore.
If the V15s had been a, say, $350-450 dollar product, I would have viewed it as reasonable given the quality, or lack thereof. But for $1000, it's a complete joke. I also own a plug-in Hoover upright that I've owned for 10 years, with absolutely zero problems. It does a better job on carpet too.
Anyway, I am in search of suggestions for a replacement. As mentioned above, I have a budget of $1,000. I like the general layout if the Dyson V15s - that is, a "power" unit with multiple attachments.
What I absolutely need:
Carpet and hard floor attachments.
A "pet" attachment; one that is designed to pull hair out of fabric.
What I do like about it and would like to still have:
How the head pivots, making it easy to get into corners, under chairs, etc
The laser head, this is extremely cool
What I don't like:
Dyson are complete dickheads to deal with
The debris hopper is oddly small given the overall size of the vacuum
The spring-loaded hopper ejects the debris and is messy. Just let me dump it.
What's nice but I could take or leave:
Cordless. I think I would prefer a corded vacuum mainly for the reason of power level differences, but I'm not ruling out cordless.
