V6 from 2018, should I keep and fix?
Dyson tech here, if you put in a new battery you should receive a 1/2 year warranty iirc. And that battery will last you easily 5-7 years. Not much else tends to go wrong with them as long as you use the proper care, don't put in a damp filter. Those V6s were well made, the v11s+ are built complicated with much more issues. April 20, 2016V6 Cordless Versus an Upgrade Like the V15
We just came home today with a V15 purchased in the Black Friday sales, having had a V7 for the past 7 years. The V7 was still going strong enough, but the max mode barely worked and rather than buy a new battery decided to upgrade as we now have pet hair to contend with on top of kids mess. My biggest gripe with the V7 was its frequent inability to pick up larger debris like leaves, they would often get stuck at the back of the cleaner head or crunched up and flung around by the rotating head. But in general in V7 has been great and that's why we wanted to stick with Dyson. The V15 is a notable upgrade. You can feel the increased suction the motor produces compared to the V7. Having only yesterday vacuumed with the V7, it was frankly ridiculous how much the V15 pulled up off the hard floors and especially the rugs and carpet only a day later (had to empty it twice!). The new motorbar head deals with those larger debris with ease and we often transition from hard floor to rugs and it does a much better job without needing to change heads. The auto mode, changing power depending on surface and detected dirt levels, works seamlessly and really well and presumably provides the best balance of battery efficiency and cleaning performance without any input from the user. And then finally the fluffy roller on the hard floors with the laser optic, omg! My wife cleans the floors vigorously and she was astounded by what it showed up. You can now see you're doing a good job cleaning thoroughly as opposed to just hoping. It's not cheap but if it lasts another 7 years as the last one has and given how well it cleans, I think it's great value. I can't imagine you would be disappointed if you upgrade from a V6. I recently bought a new V8 as my main vacuum, however I still have a V6 from 2018 which was my former regular vacuum.
It’s starting to show its wear and tear, and the battery is getting ready to be replaced as it’s the original and only lasts about 30 seconds to a minute at best when I put it in Max mode.
I am wondering if it’s actually worth replacing the battery (and a few other components, like the motorhead brush and maybe buying a soft floor roller brush if I can find one) cost wise at this point.
I only intend on using this one as a secondary vacuum for my home office. I am interested in the Amazon batteries but I’ve heard they are not worth the price drop, but the official ones are almost $150 Canadian dollars.
At this point, would it be more worthwhile to get a new secondary vacuum or invest in parts replacement and try to get some more years out of it?

I replaced my V6 battery with some 3rd party battery from Amazon two years ago. Worked well and still going strong. The floor tool is broken as well but I replaced it with Dyson OEM floor tool.
