I agree with another comment I read on this subreddit once. “The best vacuum is the one you will enjoy using, suits your needs and meets your satisfactions”. Objectively, there are always better or worse items within their own ranks. Why use a Molotov cocktail when I could use a nuclear warhead? I’ve had Miele, Kirby, and have an older Dyson upright. They’re all great, for their specific use cases. I use my V8 to clean up behind my cat and do quick touch up’s behind the roborock. High dusting, blinds dusting, and vacuuming out the lint trap to my dryer. More on reddit.com

If this is your only vacuum or your primary vacuum a cordless vacuum will not cut it for carpets. Cordless vacuums do ok on hard floors and can lightly clean carpets but they do not have the suction and agitation to properly deep clean carpets. I'd suggest getting a corded vacuum for weekly deep cleaning and a cordless vacuum for lighter daily cleaning. The Dyson V8 is not bad, I think it's Dyson's peak in terms of performance and value. Are you in the U.S.? I wouldn't get a Dyson V8 Origin for $279 when the Dyson V8 Absolute is just $299. The V8 Absolute adds the fluffy cleaner head, a crevice tool, and the hair screw tool. The LG CordZero is pretty good too and it's a better value. The LG CordZero A912BM $298 comes with 2 batteries, a mini motorized brush, and a charging stand.
