Hi all, as title says I'm not entirely sure what I've bought. Wanted to get a V8 animal to clean up after the dogs and when I spoke to the sales people at the shops they also parroted back that it was an animal but the box doesn't say animal anywhere. I've looked at a bunch of marketing material online for the V8 2022 which kind of implies that it's the same machine but I was under the impression the animal was a bit more durable than the standard Really appreciate any help/advice as I'm feeling a bit irritated if I've been lied to. The V8 absolute and V8 animal have the same power. The V8 Absolute has more accessories and is at the same level for pet hair than the Animal version

The V8 Absolute is what you want without a doubt. Not only does the V8 Absolute come with the hardwood (or non carpeted) floor attachment that works absolutely phenomenal, but it also comes with another attachment for upholstery and other services specifically made for animal fur. It lasts, on average, 20 minutes longer on full battery charge than the V8 Animal and you would end up paying as much for the V8 Absolute anyways by the time you were done ordering attachments for it.
Exact reason I bought the Absolute over the Animal and would not even think about returning it as its the best vacuum I have ever used!

I'm confused.
Target is having a sale on the Dyson V8 Motorhead for $250.
We are getting a golden retriever next month, so I had already been looking at the Dyson V8 Animal. It's $399.
I'm having trouble seeing what the real difference is on the Dyson website. They are apparently slightly different weights/dimensions but seem to carry the exact same cleaner head, attachments, etc.
Is there a difference and if so, do you guys have a recommendation?

Tools. You won’t get the mini cleaner head tool which is nice for couches with dogs, but not worth the difference with the target price. I’d get the target one and you can buy the tool later

I have the v8 Motorhead (Target had the same deal earlier this year) with 3 cats and it literally is the best vacuum I've had. I would only consider the Animal if you really need all the extra tools and don't want to purchase them separately.

I only really have a few rooms in my house that are carpet and need cleaned. I paid $300 or so for it. It’s great but the “max” mode barely lasts to clean my few rooms. I couldn’t believe how much dust and hair and crap it sucked up though! Wow. Are there better vacuums for smaller areas that I can get for the same , or a cheaper, price? I just want something small , cordless, and easy to use so it’s not a “chore” to vacuum.

Dyson is over priced and over hyped poor quality. You're paying for the name and poor engineering. I bought a Miele C3 complete and haven't regretted it once in the year I've owned it super quiet and high powered and a way better warranty than a Dyson

Cordless is not the way to go imo. You need a good primary vacuum (corded/bagged) for weekly deep cleans. Then a stick for quick daily messes. Take a look around the sub. Dyson is generally hated for being very poor quality lately.

So the v8 designates the machine and all of the extra bs afterwards basically designates the color and what tools it comes with. I recommend getting a used or new laser fluffy head for it on ebay and you can get whatever plastic tools and generic parts like filters or batteries you need on amazon. Ebay also has the famous detangling heads. All the new tools except the v12"slim" tools fit the v8. So with that said, I would get whatever one is cheaper.
